I echo the sentiment of the other players here. if it goes into Open Beta, this game is going to put off so many people its not even funny. and I thought it was a great game, but I haven't played much since i was waiting for the open beta. at least i can use the SC currency in something else, though I don't play any SOE games.
Well i had good hopes for this game. Had a lot of potential, thought it was going to be my main mmo. Because i thought the game wasn't going open beta till Christmas time. I am uninstalling this game and not looking at it again lol. COME ON SONY DIDNT YOU LEARN FROM VANGUARD!!!!!! This game is in alittle better shape then vanguard when it came out. You can swim up water falls, you can just stand in the water as a archer and the mobs cant go into the water. Have the animation are broken, the character creation animation and fonts are broken. Not to mention sense they got a serious body slider, everything from arms to breast to feet. In order to get armor to clip right its going to take a lot of tweaking. The housing is not even in the game yet, nor is it working right. All they are trying to do is get people to spend money, and are going to make the whole game fail, because unless people changed alot. I do not see them putting up with all the problems its going to have. All they are going to do is make every one see how poorly unpolished and shitty of a game it is, and not give the game any money. And when the 12 other better mmos come out this game will have a population like wizardry online lol. What the hell sony, you are like a freaking alcoholic, you just keep doing the same stupid crap over and over and over again, thinking its going to turn out different this time.
do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this game. It hasnt even been completely localized yet, good luck figuring out what NAM_1200007888765366 means when hunting crafting materials or questing.
also, the animations are pretty aweful and the controls are very unresponsive. the combo system looks good on paper, but due to shitty control response it functions more like luck than skill.

he is right on that aspect, it happens you click once for your main attack, then what happens is it goes to another skill for the combo. But.... its almost impossible to get the second one, even if you are skillful. The response time to it is way to slow. Sony just shame on you. We all need to send your to AA

I'm shocked. May 30th is just too soon. It's far from ready yet. Game needs some TLC still. I blame SONY. It's all about the mighty dollar... not quality. OB should be at least 2 months out. Besides that I am enjoying the game... It's not perfect but it's fun. I am thankful I didn't spend the $40 on a starter pack now that I know they are rushing things. I still plan on playing but this will just be a casual, back-up game I play... not my main game. Also, I have some SC to spend anyways.
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
Well, this is one for Sony to shoot themselves in the foot. Again.
One would have thought people would learn from Vanguard or FF14.
Well...I guess in a corporate world, revenue and money-making makes more sense than releasing an MMO still in its infantile stages and waiting for it to backfire on them. Or, they just love to clean their messes up.
Yup. Makes total sense, Sony.
The better idea to avoid any eventual messy cleanups is to do what Runewalker had stated from the beginning - to release the game in OB phase at the end of this year. As already expressed by many people here, DP is in no condition to go OB for many many MANY good reasons. Placeholder names is one of the more not-so-minor problems that have been nagging at us. Translations, though not as bad as Age of Wushu during CB, still needs to be worked on. As a person who is bilingual in both English and Chinese, I find it cumbersome and very headache-inducing to have to constantly switch my brain back and forth between languages.
Let's not forget that there is also a pretty steep learning curve to figuring things out in-game. Several of my guild members have scoured for a long time before we finally found the control interface webpage through indirect means. (Nope, Google didn't help much.) Crafting takes yoinks to figure out, with the dragon taming interface and lair system among the several brain-busters. And don't get me started on the crafting or the navigation system. Argue that it presents a challenge for the more competitive people, but please do not neglect the rest of the market who do want to play the game at a casual pace. It's called F2P MMORPG for a reason, no?
This game should also be tweaked for those with lower-end PCs. Holy LAGGING catfish batman I've never had the pleasure of being KOed while standing still in the middle of non-aggressive mobs, only for some joker to waltz by with a rush of mobs after him and have a few zero in on me in a few seconds.
Let's not forget that there are several...spontaneous teleportation issues in-game. Both my oracles had the displeasure of "teleporting" to Wynnadia. Imagine how shell-shock I was to find myself in an area of level 40s the following day, when both my chars barely hit lvl15. Thankfully one of them has a flying dragon so I can fly back to my previously translocated town...for over half an hour.
What's even more interesting was how...not unique the classes are. Sure archers and sorcs are long-ranged dealers and warriors and oracles are melee dmg dealers, but it ends there. As an oracle I was hoping to have a ranged att that will draw a mob to me instead of having to rush towards a mob that inadvertently brings about a throng behind its heels.
Dragon souls skills...NEED TO BE TWEAKED. There was hot discussion among the CBT users of the dragon soul skill Lightwell, which heals multiple characters for a lot. Well, been playing since cbt launched and I have yet to come across a dragon with Lightwell, even after farming a field of dragons for 2 and a half hours straight. Field training between dragons....skills that were supposed to be learnt, and have been learnt, didn't even show in the dragonkin info page? What gives? Also, you're only limited to 2 slots in your dragon stables, and another 2 in your lair, making 4 slots in total w/o paying SC. I've talked to several people in-game, and well, more can definitely be opened. At least bring it up to 6 to make it half.
Aside from the slew of bad things, I'll have to say the dragons are very well done, and the backgrounds are just gorgeous. Sadly, if graphics make the MMO, we won't be having this post now from a more than horrified, less than shocked player here.
I honestly, truly like the game. Being able to tame, ride and fight alongside dragons is a very novel idea that should have been done a long time ago. And as a dragon-holic myself, I was counting down the days till CB. Therefore, I applaud Runewalker for taking the challenge and presenting us with DP. However, though I can grit my teeth and move on with the lesser evils, I draw the line at sheer ridiculousness.
All in all, if Sony would listen to reason, heed your players words when we say DP is not ready. We've played it, we've beta-ed it, WE KNOW.
Originally posted by oboc May 30th ? Is that a joke ? Like others have said, it still feels like alpha. I feel they need 4-6 months of cb testing still.
cb testing success goes down to test players who play it, if cb players wich is more often true only play the game and try to get to the maximum without taking any note of bugs and failures and possible upgrade ideas. the game cant get better from it's so called alpha stage.
I recently got a key for beta (from this site actually) and have been playing around on it. My first thoughts were "woah this is really early beta".
I hope they are hiding something, nearly every item/skill seemed to have place holder names.
/worried as the idea of the game seems so good, capturing dragons to get skills, I hope they don't ruin their chances of any success
capturing the dragon's to get elite skills like healing light or cure or str, fero whatever buffs or even taunt is the the key yea but aside from that, intro animation sucked big time sorry to say and the fact that its piperun. you follow this path form starter town to another village or camp and basicly can only move linearic way is what aion did aswell.
it is not truly that bad but it could have been better, but im sure many will find it enjoyable and entertaining until some major hyped titles comes out.
I have been playing this game for about 2 months now and I also definitely agree with many of the above posters saying it's not ready for open beta.
This is really true, and every patch sofar has had really big changes to how the game is working and those changes have for sure not been tested and fine tuned by the betatesters yet. For example the crafting has undergone serious changes over the last patches and those changes has not been completely tested since it now takes quite a long time and effort to increase in crafting lvls (which imo is a good change).
If they go open beta at this point then I am worried that it will have a huge negative impact on the game unless they have some amazing patches coming up (which I doubt).
So drop the open beta thoughts and polish the game more and give it the needed love since I must admit this has POTENTIAL to be really good actually, just that it's not there yet!
I grew up loving movies like Ninja Scroll, cartoons like Robotech.
I used to get pretty excited when I saw cool Asian styled mmorpgs and games. That's before I started learning from experience how terrible it is dealing with Korean/Chinese/Japanese developers and the American Publishers who make pretend they have control. They're just opportunistic cash grabbers who are translating content from another culture that could give 2 shits about gamers in the US. It's just a sad truth.
Translation will be deplorable, with American publisher taking liberties where it's not necessary
It will be sloppily censored because Asian developers are dirty old men, who fantasize about child like women and sexually ambiguous men.
We'll get updates 2 years after they've already been released
Critical bugs won't get managed unless they stop the American publishers revenue stream
Game won't be optimized to run properly
The net code will be abysmal because Asian devs don't take Americas shitty infrastructure into consideration.
The G-Word (rhymes with mind)
It's happened in Aion, Tera, Phantasy Star Online, and will most likely happen in Blade N Soul, Archeage, and Dragon's Prophet.
As much as it pains me. I will be steering clear of all Asian dev'ed releases.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
I really do not understand these MMO company's like sony doing what they do. Its like if Honda said, yeah guys I know i said it would take another 7 months to figure out the bugs in the car but....... Forget all that nonsense, yep our new car is ready to be sold, no one will care that when you hit the brake the accelerator floors it self, and when you hit the lock button the car shuts off, and when you put it in reverse the left wheel goes forward, and all the brakes lock up. it will be fine, they will buy and buy and buy. I guess in the mmo world things are different. Standards for mmos must be so low, that publishers have no fear to release garbage, because some one will be giving them money for it.
Okay, vague and a very terrible and fail way to describe it I know, but yeah... I'll give it the benefit it lacked a lot of translations and all that, its fine and understandable since it was in beta. The rest just felt so... bleh and meh...
I just wasn't all that impressed to be blunt. Maybe its just the character I was playing, it just didn't feel very smooth at all when I played with combat and just over-all a lackluster experience. Who knows though, perhaps it has improved a lot since I last played?
Still, given an open beta, no reason for people not to go and check it out.
Oh, I don't completely agree with what you say. I truly enjoyed it. There is one or two things reminding you it's not a sub game, but overall some of the concepts is refreshing. I'd recommend it to Neverwinter ragequiters.
OMG. It has been a long time since i have seen I mess like this. Unless Santa and his Elfs helps them out putting in extra hours (a lot extra) this is going to be the most fail open beta of the last few years.
I played it some days ago and it felt like it was in an alpha state
I so agree with u.
Completely agree. I felt this game was awesome for an alpha but definitely not in beta. Too many graphical and game play issues not yet resolved. Allot of areas very sparsely detailed, and did anyone else find that they had serious issues with the way the dragon's accepted or rejected you?

While i had my problems with this game, this dude is just a bitter person. He listed Aion, Tera, and PSO as having the issues he stated above completely unfairly, (unless your talking about the PC version of PSO in which case shame of you for having high expectations of a console game ported to PC).
AIon and Tera are grinds i will give you that, however translation issues and bugs in those games were resolved very quickly and there were significant content patches made to both of those games. Anyone who played aion before and after 2.0 were never have made those comments.
Yes if you are offended by scantly dressed women and can't deal with grinding don't play Asian mmo's. Oh and if your internet sucks then don't complain about games running slow, games like aion and tera were cutting edge graphics at their time so of course they required better computers and better internet.

Yeh, er.. this game is not ready for any kind of soft launch/launch/open beta.. or whatever they will be calling it.
Dumb thing to do.

1. Charcter creation is totaly awsome !!! like 6 ways to adjust umm chest size .
2.Graphics looks really really bland and dull like some game for 10 years back.
3. Game play is like a mix left click left click left click right click q e r. I tad like aoc.
4. Ok we can tame dragon-kin and ride them but not fight while riding them.
5. Class are like fighter mage ranger cleric renamed.
6. Housing=lair.
7. I do not think its ready for open beta at all.
8. If the game looked as good as the charcter creation it would rock. But its kinda yucky looking when you start playing it.
Yes, this! My biggest issue was the massive disconnect I felt during combat, oh and the terrible localisation!

Rumor has it the TW version is more polished abd supposedly the NA version will be updated before OB.
Boy..Where have I heard that before?Hopefully true, but not holding my breath.
