it's not just the souls. on the 12th if you havent had a rift+sl activated account going into free 2 play you get less role and either bank or bag slots (dunno about the bag/bank thing however). The roles are actually just as important. F2P account, 2 slots, aka only two different specs, where as a previous "owner" you get.. 5 i believe?? CBA to go check how many trion said they were gonna allow, but im pretty sure their magic number was 5. IF you are a cleric you can be like FarmSpec/TankHealSpec/RaidHealSpec/Ranged ST dps/Melee DPS/Tank spec/AoE Dps spec etcetcetc. So you actually save money you'd likely have to spend as rift isn't wow, you need quite a few specs to be effective since there are only 4 class archetypes and each one can do many many different things

no you dont have to subscribe because with raptr reward you are already owner of the game + exp and 30 days subscriber. i didnt have that kind of problem aswell as none of my friends. maybe its a bug

I got the same problem !! I thought it was just to set up a subscription plan, after the 30 free days ended they would charge me or i could cancel it before. But no... i was charged for 30 days and got no 30 free days.
A ticket is already open, lame way to do business or maybe i was too naive/stupid...

raptr reward (game+exp+30 days for new accounts) does not require anything. no card, no sub, not anything. you just play the rift trial and after 14 hours you claim through raptr your reward, which you redeem in your rift's account page. thats all. no redirection to sub pages or anything else.
i have done 2 accounts for me and my kid, plus all my friends and guild m8's that came to rift. none of them had any problem at all.
so IMO either it is a bug, or you just trolling...

I didn't have to put in any credit card information. I had an old Rift lite account and just added the code from Raptr. No personal info or CC. Just did it two days ago. Never put in a CC prior either. So unless they changed it with in the past two days no cc is needed even if it's a brand new account.
linked my steam account rift hours to raptr and got storm legion plus all those rewarded items including pet and helmet and shoulders. but what i didnt get was the 30 days . and my thoughts are its for new accounts only so those who had subbed before dont get it.

yes, 30 days reward is only for the new accounts. past subscribers gets the expansion (Storm Legion) if they dont have it, but not the 30 days.
No not trolling. Some other people have had the same issue (check Raptr comments). It looks like something they might have changed just a few hours ago. For both my wife and myself, we had to put in our CC information in the subscription screen but the confirmation page says $0.00.
We've never purchased Rift however we're both beta users so I don't know if that's also causing it. I'm assuming not since it looks like some other people are having the same issues.
Either way, you'll be able to verify the price on a confirmation page before you agree to anything.

they indeed changed the way you do it. now you need to make the <default> mmo method.
in every mmo when you buy the game you get 30 days free sub. in order to activate it, you must either buy a pre paid game card or use a credit card. in case of the credit card you don't get charged until the free 30 days ends.
so the procedure is always the same. put a month with a credit card, take the free 30 days and then cancel the payment method. except ofc if you want to keep the sub method. thats almost default in every mmo.
Just as a heads up you need to have at least 14 hours played in steam in order to be eligible. Sadly I'm sitting at 6, i guess i never really launched through steam.

If you are an old Rift subber, and use that account, then that's why. I believe the 30 days are only for new Rift Lite accounts. So, old players that have rift, but not storm legion, will only get storm legion, and no 30 days.

I just bought SL pack and it also wanted me to sub with 30 days on top of the 30 days free. Reading further it also said i would be charged as of first log in so i subbed (paypal) and canceled before logging in.

This will be pretty shitty on Trion's part if they intentionally changed it to "trick" some people into subbing for a month.
