Finally a game that deserves to be on the hype meter

Long overdo to be introduced to the west I preset to you: Black Desert or what ArcheAge should've been. These devs would die before they let a race car drive around in this world. In case you someone missed the amazing promo video, here you are:

The sad part is this game has more of a Dungeons and Dragons feel then Neverwinter ever will.

This game is going directly onto my radar. Wow.

    Thanks for posting.

yea love how this game came out of nowhere and over one hour goes from not even being discusses on these forums to being #1 on the anticipated games.

    Personally I call bullshit.

I love the landscapes and the "authentic" looking medieval towns/villages/cities in that game.  The fact that you can own pretty much any building in that game is a big plus.  Might make a shop and hire NPCs to work there.  xD

Here's a video that combines the two trailers it has out:

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Is this not a port of a Korean game? Or am I mistaken?
  • DamonVileDamonVile Member UncommonPosts: 4,818

This game is all talk so far. Why does it deserve to be on the hype meter ? You might as well throw CU up there too. That's apparently going to be the greatest game ever made all they need to do is write the first line of code for it.

Games shouldn't get hyped from what devs tell you they're going to do. It should be about what they've actually done. The worst thing that can happen to an mmo these days seems to be the post that starts off with " this is going to be the one " all that really means is this game doesn't stand a chance of living up to the hype.

It's still in development from what I know.  Though yes, it's from a Korean development team.

For me personally, if it's anything like the trailers I'll be completely satisfied.  That's without all the sandbox elements they've talked about (including owning pretty much any building in the game or hiring NPCs to be your shopkeepers/mercenaries).

There's a video on the housing at the moment as well.

Personally I'm all for trying to downplay hype, if not just for purely selfish reasons in that there will be less competition for real estate when it's released.  Heh.

I don't see anything to be hyped about here personally. I haven't been able to find a lick of information about the game beside for these trailers, which don't really impress me themselves.

I like their more realistic aesthetic, but then they turn around and have all these flashy attacks like the more cartoony(?) games have. That clashes with me. I'd take out all those big purple flashes of whatever that is. The sword slices that give a bloodied effect look ok. Then there's the whole aesthetic of the characters themselves. Most look fine, but the giant muscle head giant men dont really fit in to me.

I dunno. Everything in these trailers looks like a mashup of different artstyles. Doesn't hype me up atall.

    The Deep Web is sca-ry.

Seems understandable.   What really gets the "nerd" in me is that I'm a history buff, and always wanted a MMO that has landscapes and cities that could very well have existed in our world.  Add to that a pure Sandbox element, dynamic weather systems, being able to climb buildings, owning any building in the world, placing tents and campfires anywhere, intricate housing systems, good combat, great looking characters, fun looking castle sieges ( at 6:03 on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXCiN1J2JI4 this video it has a fairly entertaining knight on his horse starting a charge)... Well, it just resonates with me and my old days partaking in Sandboxes such as Ultima Online.

Though it may just be targeting something I never knew I had: a want for a realistic looking game in an "authentic" looking medieval world.  The first time I watched those videos I admittedly just turned it off a few minutes in a ways back, but after giving them a second chance a few weeks ago I really just fell in love with the world as it really is about part of what I dedicated my life to learning and understanding (history was one of my majors).

Um, I created quite a large thread on this a month ago the reason you never noticed the discussing of this game was because it was not on the games list and now it actually is.

There is a crap ton of information the developers are very, very open to their community and have given a good number of interviews regarding the game and its many features. If you have any questions at all post it on the games Facebook page they will most likely respond to you fairly quickly. Warning their English is broken at best but I am already impressed by the fact they take the time to respond to us English gamers.

Also style wise this is the Eastern version of Black Desert aimed to cater towards the Eastern crow they have already admitted to being open to change for the Western release so if their is anything you don't like be vocal and specific about it. For the Western release they could fairly easily remove the overly "flashy" combat.

Here is my thread with a few links and information yes I went a bit over bored on hype but seeing as this game did not have a game page I felt it needed to gain as much hype as possible and I actually do feel it deseve a lot of hype from everything I have read and seen regarding it.

Uhh, the game has been on many of our radars for quite some time.

Anyway, it sounds / looks promising.  But we really don't know anything about it yet.  If it actually lives up to what its being hyped up to be, then hell yeah.  Frankly though these eastern mmos tend to be disappointing.

Well the only thing people seem to be complaining about is the combat but from the way it has been described it seems to be a hybrid Tera system and I am personally fine with the Tera combat system I enjoy having to be more active.

Hopefully this system will actually be better and cater to many more as it will be a Hybrid system having two totally different combat systems to cater to both the casual/ those who have hand and joint issues and those who are more hardcore and enjoy the fast paced pure action combat.

That is nice! I love games that cater to their entire audience! I also love the clip on mounted combat and that girl with her animal companion that is very intriguing! Pet classes are my favorite!

Yes, the Tamer class is probably my favorite so far not only does their animal companion fight with them in combat but they may be used as a unique mount.

I'm a little excited about this game, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I really don't like how limited housing is going to be...That's going to be a huge nightmare because everyone wants to be able to participate in all the content with equal opportunity, not just a select few. This is something I think they'll almost have to change for launch, because I don't see any scenario where this is a good idea lol. I can only understand it with things like shops and businesses and such but not houses.

I hope they take their time with the game, as I doubt we'll see this game over here anytime soon.

People are going to have to repurchase the house after a 3 month period and they are going to be quite expensive so the player will not simply be able to buy a house then simply sit back and do nothing they will have to actively work to be able to repurchase their home/shop. They also mentioned some form of auction system where in some cases after the 3 month period has elapsed and it is time for someone to repurchase their house it can be bought by someone else if you are unable to outbid them.

Also the tents for non-house owners are not actually tents as we might imagine them they're more a makeshift shack and are actually fairly large and cool looking.

This game is definitely worth the hype , by far the best looking graphics any MMO has thus far to date .

I've played Battlefield 3 in Ultra Settings so I know what decent graphics look like . Thus I feel definitely 9/10 for graphics in this game . Gameplay looks cool especially on the mounts .

I guess its going to come down to what the controls feel like . The massive scale combat looked like a mess lol .

Well it can mean just about anything but getting hyped about a game that isn't a game is ....foolish considering mmo history. When they start showing you actual features in the game...not a youtube clip then there is at least something to get excited about.

Devs giving interviews about making the greatest game ever has been done before....to death.

Hype that down your Pipe . This game creates fear  in its wake ....  scared because this game is the destroyer of  guilds because of the players who will leave their current MMO in droves .
