anyone else not seeing anything about this on Steam or Defiance homepage?

Umm the ratings have gone way down and the reason it got renewed for second season is because sy fy has pumped a lot of its own money in the show. It is the most expensive show for the channel so far and they are giving it a chance to pick up. But from the average ratings it got so far i doubt it will get a third season.
yah it was a gamble either the show would be a stinker or the game would be a stinker....
right now- they both arent doin to well, with the people that matter most =the fans.
this will turn to finger pointing soon.//an ideal victory is both being a hit! only time will tell.
the show is mediocre at best. and getting better -but was due for a second season before the first season aired, so no news here...
and the game started with so many issues itll take a (well they did it) a wipe in devs to reboot the game as a whole- whats keeping the game afloat is that it is fun!
and they can thank gearbox for that!
<.<
oh for the record- i do play the game daily!-and love it. iam just stating the obvious.

"from May 23rd at 10:00am PDT to May 26th at 1:00pm PDT"
But that can't be accurate because it is now the 24th and there is nothing anywhere on steam about this. Does steam not know steam is having a free weekend? Maybe a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to?
Originally posted by Lazarus71 Sounds like a smart business move to me, this just gives potential purchasers a chance to try the game. The worst that can happen is that someone who was never going to purchase the game to begin with doesn't.
No, the worst ( well, for Trion anyway ) that can happen is someone that wanted to play the game will now see it's not worth it.
The end result is the same at this point, a person that had not pulled the trigger on a purchase yet was most likely not going to anyway with out this very trial being offered.
Any word on if the free trial is taking place this weekend? Or is the free weekend taking place on another date? I went to the steam site and nothing is there.

Problem with Defiance is that it is nothing more than a 'baddie of the week' show masquerading as a sci fi show.
I was honestly expecting a show which extends to a lot more cool areas than just one town. When i saw the pilot i was really excited just imagining the potential and adventures Nolan And Irisa would face on their travel..
Instead now they are stuck in that ugly town where one bad ass villain walks in to get shot or caught every week.
Extremely disappointed because there is so much more that could have been done given the scope of new earth and its inhabitants.
as well I am currently on steam and see no free weekend offer. the only free week thing they are saying is Chivalry.
Anyone?
It is finally there, my guess is it popped up at 1pm PDT as that seems to be when they update everything. Though the mmorpg.com announcement did say 1pm PDT yesterday instead of today.
usually steams free weekend offers start on fridays. So i guess someone got the dates mixed and that it run fri-sun as usual.
Nope, free weekends on Steam start on Thursday. As Chivalry did yesterday. It seems it wasn't available until today because of server problems. Not a good impression really.
Originally posted by titanjin This game is a joke. It was a joke during beta and it's still a joke. This is what happens to all f2p/b2p games..I'm not just talking about defiance. Look at DC Universe Online, Diablo 3, SWTOR, Rift, and ect...Even GW2 was getting boring after three days...
Ah yes because games like WoW still have me enthralled, I've been so enthralled by that game since BC that I have yet to put it back on my computer.
On the other hand Boring/not boring has nothing to do with how you pay for a game.
Take for example this classic B2P analog game. It is called Monopoly, the endgame in this is rather repetitive with constant raids against enemy holdings via economic dominance. I only had to purchase a singular expansion for this game as I wished to have the Star Wars skins added to the characters and environments.Yet to this day I still enjoy this early b2p game.

I agree all games should have trials but in this case the timing is imo pretty good.
You will have less luck attracting people once the game is dead, right now there are still a decent number of players so the timing is smart.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Defiance will probably win my "biggest waste of money game" of 2013. 2012's winner? Diablo 3.

It is more than enough time to finish the main storyline.
