Sleeper Hit of 2013? The next Everquest?

burdock2burdock2 Member UncommonPosts: 420

With the debacle that was Wizardry Online, I am wondering (and hoping) if this game will be the next big thing of 2013? Perhaps a sleeper hit (something people disregard due to Runes of Magic or Asian made) only to have a cult following. I would love for it to explode, to have collectors editions, strategy guides, novels, action figures, ect.

Biggest thing? Graphics and Content! Make the game ALIVE - have TONS of content, 1000s of quests, a clear "This is where we are heading" plan for future expansions, ect and well developed and interesting lore. Have the graphics in game top notch Direct X 11 graphics (think Elder Scrolls) and many mini games. Please don't have it Pay to Win or Grindy, and keep the interest of players with a speedily journey through the levels with a sense of Accomplishment - with Accomplishments, reward exploration, feats of strength (Like Dragon Lord Owner), ect.

Please make it all it can be...and more!

    Have you played the beta?

This is not going to be a sleeper hit. Not because it's not a good game. It is, in some ways a very good game. The issue is that...it's rather generic all around.

Is this a joke? this game is so bugged and unfinished in its current state that releasing it into open beta is just bad decision making on the publishers part.

I don't really see any hits this year unless AA or EQ Next launch this year.

    Yes.

It will also be the WoW killer and the saviour of the MMORPG genre.

Oh and apparently it can also cure cancer and end the wars on drugs and terror.

Those flaws don't bother game manufacturers these days - they just want to hear the "ka-CHING!" of money flooding into the cash shops.

This game lasted all of 30 minutes on my hard drive before I uninstalled it.

Why? Mainly the god awful combat animations and graphics all round. I really see no reason to play this over something more polished like TERA.

Perhaps it gets better the more you play but first impressions matter and they are not good. Having to pay real money to revive your character on the spot was a big turn off. I don't like asking players to pay when they are at their most vulnerable in terms of making transactions. I.E. you just crawled all the way to bottom of an instance just to die on the last boss.. your not in a state of mind to make a wise choice about spending real money at that point.

     I'll stick with TERA.

Afraid this is a rather generic game, so no.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

EQ wasn't a sleeper hit and it didn't have a cult following. It had the largest subscriber base for its time.

DP as next EQ? i don't know what you are smoking.

Why is the concept of a publisher so hard for people to understand?

SoE is not the developer, it is the publisher. It runs the servers and pricing model, but it does not develop or make the game in any way shape or form.

The developer is Runewalker Entertainment, the people who made Runes of Magic.

See? Not that hard now is it. The only relationship between Dragon's Prophet and Everquest is that they will share the same pricing model / currency (Station Cash).

I just started playing this game last night. And yeah i think it could be a sleeper hit. But forget about saying that here. It seems like most of the people here just like to hate on any game without  open world pvp. This game is pretty much like any mmo out there. Their all Everquest anyways. Questing with a stable of dragon pets that fight with you is going to be fun.
