It seems that the first game you have ever played, is your favorite.

I have read many posts where people complain about the games they just try or just started. They compare it to their original game that they played. They think it's worse in a lot of ways because they are used to the first game. 3 years ago when I played UO, I thought it kicked ass. Then annoying people came, EA screwed it up, yada yada yada. I went to Shadowbane and it sucked. I was used to UO. This is a pretty boring topic but I just wanted to see what you guys thought.image

I've never thought about it, but it's true. Because the first game you have ever played was a different experience you have never had. But then once this game gets beyond it's years, you go to another game which feels so different and doesn't feel like the original. Very good point.

UO... ahhh UO i never made any personal friends or anything i would dissappear for months then come back and have to find the people i hung out with and etc. (i had icq but eeh never used it) Then i played DAoC god there is something about that type of game makes you like suck into becoming real friends its werid. probably the fact that the lvl grind was ssoo long ><... compared the 1-2yearish period(before and after T2A) of UO where if you knew what to doo you could get a guy with GM weapon Decent dex (hiding) gm parry and ok str with armslore decent healing anatomy tact all that.

Then goo pvp with a ghetto styling decent guy and die alot but gain in everything ;) in a week.. that game Week of lvling and you could pvp sucky but still get a few kills once in a while. There was always tricks to gaining in UO weather they were ment to be in the game or not you felt alot better that you knew the tricks and were like YAAA it wont take 5 years to get GM resists! only 1 >< but it took like 3 or 4 to doo it hehe

UO honestly was more Log on Log off life will goo on EQ DAoC and many new 1s like suck you into the game even when you wanna leave >< because Groups, etc it burned me out ...

I disagree to a point.I first played UO but to me it was nothing compared to EQ.EQ was my second game. Now dont get me wrong I liked UO and had alot of fun but not as much as I did in EQ.Played alot of games since I first played UO and to me EQ is still the best to date.

Well, I tend to agree with the topic statement for the most part. I did also start out on UO and absolutlely loved it. I switched to EQ after I had figured there was nothing more to do in UO. It seemed that it was pretty stagnant at that time. EQ is great (still playing), but there is so much that I miss from UO that EQ does not have. AT first EQ was better, but looking back on it now UO was much more fun. I have too much time invested in EQ to switch back (March 1999), but have been thinking about it.

    Shots out!

I dont think its particularly true your dissapointed with other games because of the first. Point and example, I played AC1, loved that game, played for 2 1/2 years, since beta, and 2 1/2 years after retail. Now all the other games i played, bored the crap out of me. Except EQ, played on the PvP server, played for about 3 months, but got to frustrated with the exp loss and quit. Now EQ still wasnt my favorite game, AC1 was. But every other game i've tried, DAoC, AO, SB, SWG. Got sick of em quick, why? Lack of content, and extreme repetitiveness.

The first game I played was space invaders, and it sucks!

so your idea is not totally correct...

but yes, the fist few games I played after that belong to my alltime favorites!

I first played UO for a few years and quit it for EQ... oh man theres nothing better than an unhealthy addiction let me tell you. It was the best diet I had ever gone on... eatting was time away from my computer!!! UO was good and I liked the idea but I think EQ and UO are totally different in the area of social interaction... EQ knew you werent gonna have a social life after starting... so they built one into the game image
