Edited: No need to petition anymore since Mythic has conducted a login poll to see what new server type the players want, it seems a non-ToA server is the winner. Addressing ToA for the casual server was what I'd hoped for so a server sans ToA is a casual server in my opinion.  image

well anybody would be better off catering to the casual player.  Blizzard even stated before release that wow is built with the casual gamer in mind.  With the rested xp system. Look what kinda of success blizzard had with wow.  It would be a huge advantange of making a casual server now with the honor system in place.  Alot of folks dont know what to think of the honor system.  I recently found out that the honor will be counted at the end of the week.  Then rank handed out starting with the best kills.  So basicly it is Warcraft Tournament.  To me they just shot the casual in the chest.  The ranks are rewarding how much time you spent pvping.  So with my work schedule and life.  I would be lucky to put in 2 hours 5 days a week. I will never see a decent rank.  Not that i suck in pvp, but cannot compete with the no lifers with no jobs sittling at home.  Some like the honor system and some dont.  I like it but needs to keep the tournament out and revamp the honor system.  With releasing the honor system and no battlegrounds.  You have to get your kills from the vast world.  Making the camp spots for xp nothing more then honor farmpoints.

First time I have posted here, but I am in a similar situation.  I don't get that much time to play either.  I was subscribed to DAoC for about 2 years, and I loved it!  That is until TOA came out.  Shortly after that was released I cancelled my account.  So I logged into my friend's account today to see what the poll was about and what alternate server types they were thinking of offering and one of the first ones mentioned is a server that will "not allow players to travel to Trials of Atlantis" and also says in parenthesis something to the effect (to take away artifacts, scrolls and master levels).  I voted for that one.  To me that is the server I would love to see!  With the limited time I have to play, when TOA came out, it was a huge time sinc and really to complete everything there, now I gotta go to third party websites and do my homework, plus put the massive time in and also have to rely on battlegroups as well.  I just wished it would have been more solo friendly for someone like me that I can go to TOA and complete something and see progress fairly quickly.  But with my limited play time I felt like I would never be able to compete in RVR now.  I feel like a "TOA Disabled" server would be more casual player friendly as well now that Mythic has introduced the free levels, bumped up the XP and bonus XP and also released Catacombs.  It would still be pretty easy and not as time consuming to get to lvl 50 for casual players.  If Mythic will offer the "TOA Disabled" I think I will definately re-open my account and come back.  I am playing WOW now, and while I think it is a good game, it just doesn't have that magic that DAoC had for me.  There's just a way about DAoC that is neat and magical to me.  I would love to come back (home to DAoC) but not with TOA.

I would not vote for a casual server, not after staying around spending a huge amount of time getting my character toad and ready for combat :)

I wont play DAoC, so take what I suggest with some questioning.

I humbly think that the casuals server is a GREAT idea.

However you need to keep peoples motivated to go play on the regular servers.

Maybe the casual servers could have LESS zones?  Only 2 factions?  Make them reach the ultimate TOP of the game, self estim, fun and everything, it does matter...but cut in the zones, in the options, make it appealing to go play on the non-casuals if you have the time for.

Heck, if you can afford more then 1 setting, maybe another setting could have all the zones, but lacking something to reach the ultimate top, so always been a little behind...or something...

If a casual server is identical to a regular server, then nobody will bother with a harsher grind even if they like it for self achievement...

Anyway, just my ideas...a casual can find it appealing to be uber and miss a big part of the zones, or to never really be uber(nobody can on this server) but still see all the zones.  You need to keep the humans faction of course if you remove some zones...(Albion? quite some times)

I am no casual myself...and a server with no raiding zones whatsoever is extremely appealing to me, but I need and deserve the same uberness, just cut from the raiding zones for me, NP. image

There idea would focus on removing ToA and/or limiting the amount of experience you can earn in a 24 hour period.  The idea is for those who truly are casual to be able to have a nice place to play.  Casual is not meant by Mythic to be a place to get through everything quicker so you can get to RvR.

So give this I doubt that there will be many people who move over there to play.  Second, I highly doubt they add this server because of lack of interest.  Most of the people I know who took the poll said they wouldn't move.  I think most current players will say that.  So I highly doubt this idea even gets off of the ground unless DAOC can add 50% more active players to the game.

Ok, since I'm digging this idea I'm gonna start a poll here and send the link from it to the Herald.
