...If only there was a sandbox mmorpg with the gameplay and combat mechanics of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare...
scary thought lol.
I already have played and witnessed the start of a perfect design in combat and mechanics in FFXI.If any developer could learn from those and expand/improve,i would be sold for life.Everything i have seen since is less of or just plain weak systems in general.
What i have seen from game to game are the odd good ideas, too bad that 1-2 good ideas does not make a good game, but if a dev could garner many of those ideas they would have a great game.Another problem i have seen is a great idea on paper but doing it no justice inside the game.
A perfect example ..EVE
Thinking up all those skills and ideas but simply making them a check mark in a box is a really lame way to implement them.Or how about have all these ideas behind your character but you don't even really have a character. You see this is what i call good design on paper but implemented like a sub par developer.
How about jumping puzzles, this idea really makes me LOL.Ok on paper sounds good right, umm NOT.This is a RPG genre, that means ROLE PLAYING,who on earth thought that anyone would be sitting there thinking "you know i sure would love to role play a puzzle jumper...again NOT happening, just ridiculous. So you might think oh great we have these nice jump mechanics we worked out exactly how far one can jump, yep we dotted all the T's and I's great job guys.
Yes in Indiana Jones Temple of Doom he was jumping through mazes and traps, but they fit the movie, those traps were laid out by the ancients to keep thieves away.So all that work was done with a meaningful purpose as part of the story.
My whole point is that devs are simply coming up with ideas just for the sake of it,with no thought to how it relates to the game. They put more thought into coming up with ideas that are just simple to implement, very cost effective ideas.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
No, its a FPS. All you want is a MMOFPS. Go play one and you'll be fine.
Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
