$60 every 2 year for "expansions" + $15 per month sub is a rip-off. So called "free" to play are annoying with their constant nudges--or sometimes big shoves--to get you to buy essentials and crap.
Surely the "unthinkable" is the $5 / month sub with free expansions where we can play without being constantly target marketted... not the two different but equally wrong options we now have available.
15$ a month is nothing, even a beggar in 3rd world country can earn 10$ a day. if you think that is rip off then i have really nothing to say.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

Being able to afford it has nothing to do with it. It's an old arbitrary figure based on perceived value 10-15 years ago, Things have changed and MMO value is all over the place. The logical compromise between $15 subs and "free" is cheaper subs.
As to 3rd world beggars having computers and playing MMOs...I'm glad you have really nothing to say.

I'd much rather have a game company sell me a game that ENTERTAINS me.
Not "gives" me a game for free that they then use to try and sell me crap.
I get that many people like F2P, and I'm sure mmorpg.com loves f2p MMO's because of all the advertising revenue they pump out but to me it is faux entertainment trying to scam me and get at my wallet.
I'll gladly pay for my entertainment because I believe those in the entertainment industry deserve to make a living. But as an adult I can decide for myself what to spend my money on for entertainment, I do not need to be tricked by games into spending money in the "cash shop" just for them to turn a profit.
NO THANK YOU
I agree with you. If a game is entertaining, I'll find a way to pay for something... but if it's not, I'll not waste my time to play it - or my money to make it less miserable.
Originally posted by jesteralways the one and only reason why WoW lost 1.5 million sub is : "/follow" is no longer available in BG. multiboxing and botting in BG is very popular in WoW and there is absolutely no way without player report to determine the botter from multiboxer and players themselves most often don't use the in game report system to report botter and/or hackers in BG instead they just qq in chat. thus "/follow' disabled in BG and rage in forums, threats to unsub and then finally 1.5 million leaving WoW. it was as i expected to happen, i am not surprised a bit. people may say not all 1.5 million are pvpers and it is right but the amount of negative press these people created all over the internet regarding this was more than enough to make people think blizzard don't care about long time customers, most of the complains started with title : "player since tbc and leaving because blizzard don't listen to us" or "playing since release and disappointed at blizzard's behavior at long time customers", many people don't go into reading the details and title works more than enough for some people thus creating negative press. i expected it to happen and i wish blizzard would change their ToS so that they can expose botters/hackers in game like RIOT did in LoL, posting character name; account name; every details of culprit published in reddit. blizzard should start doing that too, that will shut off lots of people and they would stop qq about /follow in BG.
Lol. I hope you realize many of the players don't care about PvP, and the "bad press" was not as ad as you describe it...
For a long time I have believed that Titan would be, World of StarCraft. (WoSC) When others said it would be WoW 2.0, with a new graphics engine, art, geography, and quests. I said that is, what Cataclysm was. My feeling was that after the rollout of the SC2 trilogy, they would follow with the SC2 mmorpg. Then why the “reset”? Because two strong Sci-Fi IPs were made into mmorpgs and they flopped. The industry belief is that the market doesn’t want a Sci-Fi mmorpg as much as a High Fantasy one.
As for F2P, Blizzard has also come to realize that they own all the customers willing to pay a subscription. The customers they did loose didn’t just leave WoW they left gaming. When the economy truly recovers, then those gamers will return to WoW and gaming. The industry and gamers have one major problem with F2P, gamers who expect to play for free. Aihoshi I am calling for you to start every thread in this column with a disclaimer that F2P doesn't mean the game is free. The community must come to realize that Killers, Explorer, and Achievers are meant to pay for the game time, not Socializers alone. And by Killers I mean gamers will have to accept P2W as paying for their game style.
Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.

I like that. Well said.

Also, it has nothing to do with the payment model. They saw what they were building was another Themepark driven by developer created content. They've seen what the sandbox model is and are now drinking the sandbox coolaid (now half off, get it while supplies last).
