Sick and tired of people slagging off SOE

Veiled_lightVeiled_light Member UncommonPosts: 855

First off theres people saying how shit their customer service is :S It's bloody amazing!!!!!! Every time i've left a /petition i've gotten a reply by the next day and on the forums tech support helps mon - fri plus you have everyone else helping you out!!!! Have you seen WOW? Their customer support doesn't even exist!!!

Now i admit all these EQ2 adventure packs and expansions are a way to make money but atleast we get alot of good content!

Theres patches everyday like on EQ2 and SOE always listen to what we want (my xp in the EQ2 forums)

They have gave us things like:

  • Changing the sk horse colour
  • email system
  • offline selling
  • more solo content
  • pvp (coming)
  • double xp gain

All these things and more are what they gave us by listening :P

Now that leads us onto the /pizza function, so what? it's a harmless function that makes money for SOE and you get a pizza.

People are now bitching about the Station Exchange and why? Sony have tried to sue and shut down all the underground selling of their items! www.ige.com www.ebay.com etc etc :P The fact is they can't or it would be shut by now, sony don't have a case as they don't sell anything they just host it :P

Now SOE have decided they are going to stop ige and ebay selling by charging proper prices (so u don't get ripped off) on their website. So ige and ebay have nothing to sell and now SOE are making a profit off it!

If SOE arn't doing it then other websites would just carry on making money from their goods!

So why are you saying that these games are crap? It effects nothing and will give SOE more money for development :P

You'll notice that people on here will take any oppurtunity they can get to Bash SOE and/or Eq2. My bet is alot of then don't even play the game.

They should go and slag off Blizzard for an alful customer service and the honour system
  • herculeshercules Member UncommonPosts: 4,925

people like to moan about big companies SoE,M$ etc.And yet they still buy their products.

Who is the bigger fool. The fool or the fool who follows the fool.

First off I think one of the problems is not that they don't make changes, it's the changes they make. Of the six items you list four of them I would categorize as bad, if not horrible changes; Offline selling, more solo content (by the removal of group content), pvp, and the double xp gain.

"It effects nothing and will give SOE more money for development”. It dramatically affects Everquest 2, the player reaction from the announcement alone proves that.

The changes to the game is amazing since launch!

You can chose to play on a station exchange server or not :P

So why not just play on a non exchange server and have all those other plat farmers on normal servers to sell to ige

Well I did play the game until this week but I am not bashing them here just stating fact as to why I quit.

I like to play an archer class in any MMO. This is the character type I enjoy playing and EQ2 falls way short of giving me that character.

There is no real annimation for bow use.

The ranged attackes are so out of wack with the event times is is ubsurd.

The scout class is still a meele class and that is really sad.

Rangers are not real archers just pullers.

One other thing here to be fair. I have yet to find an MMO that really allows a roleplay as a true archer. Maybe the up and comming MMOs will.

    Have you tried WoW?

Several classes can use bows and the accompanied sound and animation is pretty good IMO.

Hunters would be the true archers since their best damage, which can be awesome, is derived from range combat and they use pets simply as tank aggressors to keep the prey at distance.

They have many scout like abilities such as tracking and a speed increase for travel.

Everyone keeps saying WoW but the game to me seems to cartoony. Wish they would have allowed humans to be hunters then maybe I could over come the cartoon look. image

I play EQ2 myself, and to be honest, I don't like the support of SOE at all. It just seems like every year they publish a new MMORPG and support it just as long as it brings money. I mean it's ridiculous to claim 5$ for an "expansions" which brings a few new zones for lvl 30+ characters. There aren't even any new classes or races. In all MMORPGs I have played so far, the publisher always used to create new ingame content just as zones or new mobs for free. EQ2 is great, no question, but I believe that it could be a by far better game than it is right now.

I am getting a really nice computer within the next month and I am getting super burned out on WoW... I miss my EQ days and was thinking about trying EQII.  They are adding all this stuff I hear and I want to get in on the action.  Before I decide between EQII and Matrix Online, I was just wondering if you could let me know a couple of the things that make EQII the game of choice for you.image

take EQ2 for what it is. I too started playing because of my EQ1 "glory days" for a few years back in the late 90's. this game is NOT EQ1...

So... are you saying EQ II is worth it?  or is it not all it's cracked up to be?

Well from my point of view it really is up to you what YOU are interested in. Strangly enough I downloaded the free trial of Anarchy Online, which I thought I would hate, and am having a heck of a lot more fun then I ever did in EQ2. I even had a GM contact me personally and ask me how the game was. The graphics SUCK but the storyline is a blast and yes it has PvP.

Thoughtfully written, I'll give you that. Congrats.

I still cancelled because I wasn't a POWER PLAYER and was, frankly, sick and tired of being sicked and tired...

Most , if not all, MMORPG support is crap. There is a mentality MMORPG producers have that leans them towards the "insane" bin.

I play independent league sports (soccer / rugby), go to college and have a job. I personally rather come home, crash out and play a MMO instead of bar hopping, the problem is… if you place any of your time, money or efforts into a MMORPG, the company will treat you like a peace of poo they scraped off their back side.

They don’t want to replace lost items, they don’t deal with account theft at all, and they treat them selves, their developers and the game in general as a religious experience in which they are God and totally infallible.

I’ve worked in allot of jobs, and I’ve never been in a job where it’s common place to treat a customer with such distain and disregard as I’ve been treated by just about every mmorpg company out there.
I think the people who run these games have a poor grip on reality, and probably the reason why they do so poorly in the states is because of their tendency to have delusions of grandeur rather then trying to sell a quality product.

i don't even know how to respond to this. that argument has been brought up countless times and it pains me to see it brought up again, it's just stupid. i'm sorry, but it is.

Well I think it is not well put to say that WoW is for kids,  but it is an entry level MMORPG, like Diablo 2 is an entry level RPG.  That does not mean that here isn't an interesting game there,  people have been playing Diablo 2 for many years and I am sure that people will be playing WoW for many years,  but the learning curve is non existant compared to the beginning of the original Everquest or Anarchy Online.  So for some, easy to learn means for kids,  actually I think it means a well developped game that is aiming at the mass market and has delivered .....

EQ2 is only changing so much because it has very little to lose. Whether it goes from mediocre to good or not, remains to be seen... not by me, though. They had their chance to keep me and they screwed it up.

I fired up my account about 2 weeks ago during some scheduled WoW server downtime (hey, I had money to burn). Well, I might as well have literally burned it, because after an hour of trying to get back into it, I felt like I was in the same old compartmentalized, dead world with that dull unimaginative graphics and design... By the time I quit out, cancelled my account for the second time, then uninstalled the game, the WoW servers were up and running...

BTW: What sort of term is "slagging off"? At any rate, sorry to slag off your pet game... We are all entitled to our opinions, so take mine for what it's worth to ya...

    First off, I <3 SOE

Second, WoW sucks REALLY BAD! its the WORST game EVER!  Everything is limitied in that game, you hit lvl 60 (in one month) and then theirs nothing to do!

Third:  EQ2 wasnt very good at launch, but its rapidly becomming one of the best MMOs of all time

Fourth:  I am still thinking of a fourth

You mean things that came in WoW out of the box?

SOE knows that for all intents and purpose their launch has been a dismal failure.  They have subscribers, but they had mass cancelations a month after launch and everyone knows where they went.  Now the tables are starting to turn a wee tiny bit and they are getting some of those back, but they have seriously pissed off a very large core group of their eqI player base that will never think twice about their decision to walk with their feet.

The only CS i ever got was a thread locked because it was negative (negative but not deroatory) to the way the game was going.  SOE doesn't have a clue and the more people that see this and move on the better IMO.

EQII was still WAY beta when it came out, its stil garbage, SOE is garbage and their money grubbing tactics are garbage.

I was a devot EQI player, I was so into EQII that I bought a complete new system way above spec to play that piece of crap.  When I realized that Brad McQuaid was EQ and not SOE I had no problem canceling my accounts.

SOE couldn't run a MMO if they had exclusive rights to the internet.

Just want to add some more facts to your point Rekindle. Star Wars: Galaxies is an excellent example of SOE's ability to create, maintain, and effectivily run an MMO. Some people say Blizzard is worst because they fail to execute what they promise but SOE has failed numerous times on SWG. SOE has changed the jedi quest at least 3 or 4 times now. They increased the buffs for doctors which allowed all players the ability to solo creatures that once took whole groups. Now they are patching all that and taking all of that easy soloing out of the game; good idea but not liekly a favorite. Everquest had its ups and downs too. For example, releasing 5 more several expansions that eventually phased out the original content of the game. They tried modifying current zones by making some of the unused dungeons higher level and better rewards.

I could go on forever but there is not enough time for it. Sony is great with electronics, especially the TVs, but the game industry they are really sucking chrome. EQ1 was much better with Verant running it than SOE.
