Which one MMO is most in depth?

UnojcUnojc Member Posts: 29
I ask because so many games are either small in land size, limited crafting, easy or on rails questing, to fast/easy leveling, etc.  So what game would be the most in depth?  I've never played EQ or SWG but I heard they were/are in depth.  Others like WoW and SWTOR are on rails too easy and not really in depth for example.  So what would it be?  I need a home!

Give Wurm Online a try. Huge land size, huge crafting, skill based not level based and of course free to to play with skill cap though.

I agree with ShakyMo on this. EvE and UO for me are by far the games with the most depth.

Just because I can dig in the dirt for hours does that mean it has the most depth?

I remember looking at Wurm online and watching some videos of people digging and spending hours building structures.  There does not appear to be any story or questing of any sort. Yes, it is a sandbox but does not necessarily mean it has depth.

Amen to that. Looked up the game just from this thread and was baffled at how one would consider it 'deep'.

Um the hole point of a sandbox game is you are not spoon fed "content" by a dev...instead the players make the content by choosing for themselves how to advance, play, and live in the game world.

A true sandbox shouldn't even have quests but instead have a world full of systems that reward and punish behavior so that players can determine their own path based on their tolerance for gradations of rewards vs risk.  A true sandbox tries to simulate a real world and lets the players live in it.

A "true" sandbox?   Then if this is so EQ Next will ultimately fail.  I expect an EX Next sandbox with questing and hoping for separate PvP servers.

I also love to hear how  you can "create your own story" in a sandbox.  Here is a shovel! Now go dig in the dirt.   My story becomes a guy who is bored after digging in the dirt for hours apparently.

When I think of depth I think of the game Space Station 13. Are there any MMOs that can capture that feeling of SS13? It is hard to explain it unless you have played it, but that game has extreme depth and is insanely fun. It is just unfortunately extremely dated in graphics and is very laggy.

Very simple. The act of digging may not in and of itself be that deep, but the level of permanent, visible interaction with the world not only in the act itself, but what you can create by doing it is very significant. Very few games, even among single player games, allow the player to shape the actual physical environment; for an MMO style game to allow it is very big, and underlines the sheer level of interactivity that Wurm Online allows the players to have with the world around them. I don't think I would put it quite up there with EVE, due to the limited combat and a few other limitations, like the complete lack of questing (even SWG had a rough mission/quest system for those that wanted to use it), but it is definitely deeper than most of the WoW-like clones out there today (WoW itself is a toss up).

Meh I dont see why so many think this game is so great...The graphics are awful, land was hard to find to build on (at least on the server I tried), and your skills go up so painfully slow that it becomes very tedious...To each their own though I guess.
