Just came back (not a blizzard employee)

I've been playing ALOT of different MMO's trying to find a new home...after about 2 years, I came back to WoW...I forgot just how many things there are to do (and the quality of those things).  I really wish games had the content available that this game has...even when it was Vanilla it was huge...now it's even bigger.

yeah wow is a great game regardless of what the burned out jaded people here say. You will find tons of things to do and there is a reason that so many other games try and copy its content and style. While the end game is most def carrot on a stick (trust me I know my DK is up to 504 now in Ilevel) there is way more ways to earn gear and have fun than most games out there. Scenarios are a  lot of fun to run especially if you are newer to level 90 and raid finder allows a lot of people who cannot commit to a raid schedule the ability to actually raid in a much easier level and still see all the content wow has to offer. I keep my account active in wow and jump between that and GW2 all the time since honestly I think those two games are probably the most content rich games out there currently and well supported by their devs.

Blizzard is also adding in 5.4 a new raid tier allowing players to create a raid with 10 thru 25 and any number in between of players with content easier than 10 man but harder than raid finder to fill in the friends and family gap and to help stage raiding tiers so people can learn mechanics better and be more successful. Honestly Im hoping the wow expansion announced at blizzcom will be another dark portals burnign crusade style xpac. I think a lot of players would like to go through some of the dark portals that were left closed off during BC and Wrath.

I am glad you enjoy WOW, better have some friends there, because that's about the only benefit of this MMORPG, is maybe you save on texting and phone calls by using the Private message or GUILD system at it's best.

Hey I'll explain to you friend why you enjoy WOW ( and the other 8 million )

here let's have... Nancy MacIntyre, the game’s senior director of Star Wars Galaxies explain the benefits of a WOW like system!

We really just needed to make the game a lot more accessible to a much broader player base. There was lots of reading, much too much, in the game. There was a lot of wandering around learning about different abilities. We really needed to give people the experience of being Han Solo or Luke Skywalker rather than being Uncle Owen, the moisture farmer. We wanted more instant gratification: kill, get treasure, repeat. We needed to give people more of an opportunity to be a part of what they have seen in the movies rather than something they had created themselves.

So pretty much to break it down

    GOOD FOR PLAYER BASE

    • NO READING/ LESS READING
    • NO WANDERING/LESS WANDERING
    • NO LEARNING/LESS LEARNING
    • INSTANT GRATIFICATION (KILL-LOOT-REPEAT)
    • LUKE SKYWALKER NOT UNCLE OWEN
    • PLAYERS DON'T CREATE (SANDBOX) - PLAYERS PLAY ( THEMEPARK )

    WINNING

WoW is good game but end game is pointless and boring.

when u get best gear u can get in raid finder and Heroic scenarios, game is over.

I did the same with a group of friends about two weeks ago. We all rolled new characters on a new server. Fun is being had.

Free to play = content updates for the cash shop. Buy to play = content updates for the cash shop.
    Subscription = Actual content updates!

I know this is not conducive to the conversation, but when I saw this thread's title, I felt like he was about to say, "Hey, buy these drugs, I'm not a cop."

On topic: I just could never get back into WoW ever since I first left. I do find this regrettable, but there is not much I can do to help it other than try again later.

    Lol....I like trolls.

Yes, WoW isnt the most difficult MMORPG to play out there, but it's got several playable races all with their own starter zones, multiple zones that can be played at the same levels as each other and the quests are well thought out....yeah you have kill quests a plenty, but so does every other MMORPG.

It's so funny that so many people use "the only thing you can do at end-game" excuse, but that exhists in every MMORPG....

Well thought out maybe, if you found lots of adventurer in a 20 page children book.

Like how thought out is this, it's a desert in the orc area, you got kill some boars/ then you gotta kill some of these/ then you got pick 8 prickly pears/then kill 8 more of these,

rinse and repeat, 5 of these at level 1, 10 quests at level 2, 25 at lvl 3, you have an exponential ammount of boring, tedious quests, please don't hype wow quest K.

when I say well thought out Im not talking about how intellectual it is...Im talking about using siege weapons to complete quest objectives, picking up poop left behind by deer...things of that nature.  well thought out means that you didn't just slop stuff together.  But your opinion is that the game stinks...that's cool with me

I think we are almost to an agreement...

Now if I had hire some labors/mechanics to build that seige engine, in a entirely open world, and was assaulting or defending land I knew was changing and player/enviromentally affected. THAT MIGHT BE PRETTY SWEET.

As one of the players who played at release, left and came back .. several times ... i will say it is one of the better games out there. It has a good balance. There are a lot of games out there that are newer and are F2P but when it really comes down to overall fun I say wow has it.

Yes the people who saw it is a thing to beat, get the end and get the best gear, will not agree and say they got bored (and had to go off and do another games same old same old) still miss what it means to have fun in a game.

To keep the game fresh for you is up to you and how you want to play it. You only get out of it what you put into it.

If you are looking for a fun game where you can call a home and enjoy the time you are there ... come on back ...

if you want to say it is boring and dull ... i challenge you to make your own game and then see just how much work and effort it takes to do waht all game developers have to do. Don't like what they make put your money where your mouth is and do better.

Oh I know I am going to get trolled for that .. but ... oppinions are like belly buttons ... everyone has one (Modified for content)

Except it really doesn't have 'that much' unless you are goig to talk about past content that was made trivialized, then you can go to games say everquest 1 and have a lot more.

There game has aged in a rather stale way. Its thrown out good (not perfect mind you) design choices and basically downgraded. Its quite sad to talk to my ex (a girl who wasn't at all a big raider) who pretty much says she is bored of the game having all the best gear without touching a raid or putting much effort.

The fact you mention' not an employee' only makes me think you are one as a side note, no real reason to state that. Only other thing would be people think you are a casual who barely plays MMos... which eh, not your fault you aren't really experienced with a lot of games, not everyone is a hardcore gamer so playing wow since you got friends who did, it makes sense you might find some enjoyment, specially if your nostalgia is high enough to ignore the terrible choices they made with it. For me? Hell no, they destroyed that game. Without that, the game itself is poorly aged and no matter what features they try taking into the game (which to their defense, its hard to add in a lot of those systems into an older game) it won't be able to have the same effect.

I agree it's no vanilla WoW, but you are comparing the game to itself, rather than the game to other games.  I wouldn't consider myself hardcore, but I probably get over 20 hours of gaming in a week and I've played almost EVERY MMO that wasn't designed in Asia (too many of those MMO's to think that I've played them all).  After playing all these MMO's, Im constantly reminded of how WoW is a cut above the rest...

That's not to say that if Anarchy Online FINALLY updated their graphic engine I wouldnt run right back to that and drop WoW quickly....I will.  But for now, I have more fun playing WoW than I do playing other games.  that's good enough for me.

I love all the blind hate(jealousy?) that goes on towards WoW. Yes the game is user friendly and easy to get into but the high end content is VERY challenging only a very small percentage of guilds are able to do hard mode content not that I really care for PvE as I only PvP now days. WoW also has extremely smooth combat mechanics. It also has an awesome competitive PvP system that is almost totally separate from pve I really enjoy arena and rated BGs. And one thing that WoW lacks that I greatly appreciate is load times most MMOs are plagued with load times and instanced zones. Wow is a totally seamless world and even going from continent to continent only takes seconds. Vs games like EQ2 and SWTOR which have load times that can last up to 5 minutes, i'm not even joking here. Blizzard also has the best customer service i've ever experienced they handle issues fast and efficiently and are extremely professional. WoW also has a ton of mini games too which I don't like but they add more flavor the game has a little something for everybody there is always something to do. And its also alt friendly with heirlooms and linked achievements and account wide mounts. Oh and lets not forget WoWs content updates WoWs content updates are bigger then some MMOs expansion packs and they pump updates out almost ever 3 months.

Seriously don't let the WoW hate discourage you the truth of the matter is there is a reason why WoW still has 8 million subs and almost every other MMO has had to go F2P to save it. Its because its the most polished game with an amazing amount of content and with things like battle pets and transmoging people are revisiting old content all the time theres always something to do and always people to play with.

Just enjoy the game and who cares what the haters say after all if they were playing a decent MMO that they enjoyed they wouldn't have to spend time trolling WoW forums.  I've played all the other MMOs WoW is head and shoulders above anything else out there let the haters hate while they sit around waiting for "The Next Big Thing" which we all know in our hearts is going to be Titan :)

Maybe you have countless hours to sit by a computer screen playing games, but many more do not. Maybe you like to stress and sweat in a game, but others have real life that gives them enough stress, that they want to relax during leisure time. That doesn't make WoW or ToR a bad a game.

Actually, Math says face rolling does work in WOW because of horribly designed tier power progress.
