    PC complexity is dead.

Well tie your hands together and try to play with just your nose. Don't let us stop you from taking it to the next level :-)

in all seriousness, it looks like its shaping up to be a proper elder scrolls. Perhaps not what daggerfall was, but certainly in the spirit of Oblivion and Skyrim.

Complex does not automatically equal entertaining...ad casual does not always equal dull...and for the record, my favorite RPG of all time was Ultima IV so I would really like it if they let me do most fo the work.

PlayedFFXI for a few years on the PS2 and none of the PC players could tell the difference. That game wasn't very casual-friendly and was certainly more complex than most curent mmo's.

My point is, the console doesn't like a games complexity...the developer does.

The more I read about this game, the less appeal it has. Hope Star Citizen will show them Console Fanatics, that PC are not dead!

It's what you do with those choices that gives it depth.

"more' does not equal "depth". That's breadth. It's what you do with what you are given that gives something depth.

With all the changes the fans have been demanding I am not shocked on spring 2014. As for it being released on consoles? This lowers on expectations on this being a game worth buying.

I agree on some level but when you design a MMO (not a RTS MMO) for a console you need dumb down UI or force the console players to buy a mouse and keyboard. Future content needs to be planed on the fix hardware of a console not the constant stead curve of PC upgrades. So you get dumb down updates that within 2-5 years leap years behind the PC market games that will be coming out at that time. IMO this is a very bad thing! Also says very bad things for the AvA in this game. The large scale battles wont be as large as they could have been if the game was focused on PC. Now they will need to find ways to spread out the number of players. Not as epic as I had hoped for.

Complex? As a gamer who has not only played mmorpg's for Over 20 years, but also has had playstation 1-3, i have the definite feeling most of the naysayers about console are idiots.

With customization, you can get over 18 different button combos from a controller, and i have personally played games like rift, wow, and even eve a bit with a controller hooked up to my computer.

And lastly, from all the whining from you all to the devs to make this game, and every other old computer friendly, kinda sounds not like there's more financial issues involved.

I'll be getting elder scrolls online, all ready have the rest, and will play it on my liquid cooled, dual video card setup, or play it on the ps4 on my 60inch lcd TV,
    And enjoy every minute.
    Cheers

over 20 years of mmorpg's and counting...

It did, Skyrim was a mediocre game on PC unless you decided to take some time, download 6, 7 GB of mods that add and change a lot of things and turn it into a really good game.

That being said i doubt this will turn out well, the more news i hear about this game the worse it gets, i can already smell the reek of a poorly functional console interface (Defiance anyone?).

Ya but the games you list there were not MMOs... MMOs on consoles have not done very well. My tech specs on my 2 year old PC is still way more powerful then the PS4 and Xbox One and I my PC was not even top of the line when I bought it. Most PC gamers will not play a MMO designed to run on a console for very long as it does not take long to see your not getting everything you should. Console MMOs just cant keep up with the market as they are stuck in a box.

True, it worked, however the fact that those titles PC versions were far superior to it's console counterparts cannot be disputed.

Even if Morrowind felt like a MMO you played solo it was still a single player game that did not get content updates for masses of players over 5-10 years. Any console MMO will need to lower their standards on everything to make it work on a console. From number of players on screen at one time, to spell effects, graphic updates, textures, so on and so on. Then 1-2 years go by and the PCs are 2-4 X more powerful then the console its designed to play on and the updates get even more archaic. This is before you get into the dumbed down UI so people can play on a controller. This is a fail.

Did anyone play the unmodified version of Skyrim on PC?

One of the games biggest draws was the fact that the modding community for TES games, is huge. image

/thread. This is why PC gamers wont keep playing a MMO designed to play on a console.

Nice pretty graph. too bad it doesn't consider the next Gen consoles. Like to see the stats on that. I'm no fan of consoles , if fact I hate them , but if you're going to roll stuff out it needs to relevant to the systems theses new games will be played on. That said Elder Scrolls Online on consoles = ugh. I get there's a push to by M$ and $ony to get these systems populated and probably incentives. It just sucks. this graph will be probably relevant in 5 years again.

there are 100's of 1000's of mods and 99% of them suck.  I enjoy vanilla skyrim.  the games biggest draw is immersion.  not modding.

It wont matter... when they build a console they expect to get 4-6 years out of the system before they need to design a new one. PS3 is already about 7 years old. How long will it take the PC market to come out with something equal or more powerful then a console? My bet within the 1st year as thats been the norm. Now the MMO and the console is 2 years old. How far behind is Xbox One and the PS4 tech now? lol Are the new MMOs scaling the game to the old PS4, or the new PCs? My bet... the new PC. Now where does that leave ESO 1-2 years after their launch? Way behind the times.

More then graphics is the problem. Number of players on screen at the same time is a huge one. Think of going around Orgrimmar in WoW in WoW prim on a Xbox system. It would have died. Also the UI is a huge problem. Playing as a PC user my UI is designed so that I can take complex actions. In a battle I see a fire mage. I click dash to close the gap and at the same time open my last bag and down a fire resist pot and close the bag. I then attack and also click my macro that tells my team I will need heals now as I am about to lose 50% of my hp. Cant do that with a console UI. So to make it fair play what do you do? Dumb down the PC UI? Have the console gamers and PC gamers on their own servers, so 2 UIs wont matter? They still need to make 2 devs teams to update both. Now we also get slower updates. This is a fail

Its not about what you can do with consoles, its about consoles games being dumbed down and simplified for average console user who apparently dont want any complexity.

There are plenty of dumb PC gamers out there too.

    then use a pc.

the game play is like any mmo or in some cases like an elder scrolls game. People are acting like bringing it to a console is somehow going to make it all "dumb".

Skyrim's issuse, other than interface had nothing to do with it being accessible on a console.

As far as the UI I played ESO and it was fine. Certainly nothing that would throw anyone for a loop.

Oh, and stop using wow as a benchmark for games.
