Good luck lol. I'll admit that I'm a bit surprised if this is true because all around the web it seems most gamers, reviewers, gaming news writes, and etc have declared the Xbox One DOA. Maybe there are a lot of people without internet picking them up lol. That would be funny as hell.
Yeah it is 100% true because everything was sold out at the other Gamestop in my town. Just shows that there is still a lot of people out there that do not find Microsoft policies to be that harmful at all.
I won't be spending money on a a console that isn't even as good as the computer I bought 3 years ago. Like these things are shipping obsolete in my mind. If I wanted an over priced piece of crap, that I can't upgrade, and comes with a mandatory money vacuuming ecosystem that I can't turn off, I'd buy an Apple product.
Besides the idea of having a camera in my house that can send my heartbeat and blood pressure stats to the @#$%ing NSA whenever it feels like it freaks me out :P Kidding!
Not interested in Xbox one it won't have titles like Witcher 3, or FFXV. Playstation is more powerful has no DRM, and playstation plus has games you can play for free while xbox restricts use of all apps for online.

Both of those games will be on Xbox One. I think Witcher 3 was actually announced during the Xbox press conference at E3.
Watching people proclaim they are going to throw away what little remaining customer rights we still have in the gamer market away to play one or two worthless exclusives.
Games last weeks, maybe months if you're lucky.
The loss of our rights to do what we want with those games are forever, just ask us PC gamers.
Totally understand what you are saying and don't blame people. I have been gaming since my late teens I have never once sold or traded in my games to my friends ever. As a pc player as well I am also online 24/7 so being always online isn't an issue. Sure checking in once every 24 hours if you choose to play offline could be an issue for some but you as well as I do that gamers as soon as they get free time and yes we all know we make time they will be on their gaming platform of choice 24/7. So I really think all this fuss about drm and online only is just a knee jerk reaction.
I was to young to notice or care when PCs switched to the license system of "you own nothing you buy". Now that I can actually see it coming and it's been announced with months of prior warning, I'll be damned if I let it happen on consoles without doing everything I can as an individual to slow it down.
That said Microsoft is doing everything it can to be as rude and disrespectful to it's, for some reason still loyal fans, as possible leading up to this release.
I'd like to see them crash and burn just to knock some humility back into them.
Edit: I realize I didn't even really talk about anything you said:
I'm online 24/7 like you as well, that said this system bothers me because while I trust my internet. Do you really trust Microsoft's servers? Games that require online have proven again and again they can't handle it until weeks after launch.
Also a 24 hour check is fine for now, but what about 15 years from now when the system is no longer current? Will they actually remove that restriction? Or make you buy everything again on the next box? Please keep in mind this is Microsoft before answering that.
ALSO keep in mind that companies can crash and burn with little to no prior warning it's coming. THQ went under and left a ton of bugs in Darksiders 2 that required mods to fix.
will someone be able to mod out Microsoft's arbitrary requirements if they blow up all of a sudden since it's a console?

Sure, the Witcher 3 is going to be on the Xbox One but... the devs aren't overly happy about the DRM with the Xbox One so they are doing the PC version themselves

^^^^^ This!
It's like watching dumb fucks on the news giving up our rights without second thought.
If enough gamers support this anti-consumer movement Microsoft is making it will then become a standard in our beloved world of fantasy and excitement. Every future generation of games will be the abomination that Microsoft is trying to sell if we all conform to what they want. Every one needs to remember that developers and big corporations like Microsoft are not the people in charge. The market flows how we consumers want it to. If you conform because of a couple exclusive titles you'll get maybe a few months of enjoyment out of at the most you are doing your self and every other gamer out there a huge disservice.

You lost me there. As others I was starting to wonder whether or not you were simply sharing an opinion or trying to sale an opinion. It turns out it was the latter. Whether it's because you're a shill or simply a fan trying to make the Xbox One more appealing I don't know, nor do I care I simply do not feel it is genuine.
I tell you between the whining and crying over xbox1 and ps4 to the f2p games are not free enough today's gamer are becoming a bunch of selfish little babies. Oh no I can't trade in 6 old games to get one new game darn your right I better not buy xbox1. Your worried about having to connect to the internet once a day when I bet your xbox360 and ps3 have been hooked up to the internet the last SIX YEARS!!!.
If you dont like it fine thats great dont buy it, the ones who do will thank you for it casue we wont have to hear you cry online about it. You little babies think you can do better go out and make your own game or console. I don't know if its jus the new generation who think they are ENTITLED to everything or society itself is changing to this pathetic way of thinking but whatever it is its just sad.
Yeah, I will probably end up with the X1. I don't pay for cable so to be able to get NFL/UFC/Netflix (as I am already a gold subscriber) is nice. The exclusive games are, imo, far better as I see no point to KH or FF period. Loved Dead Rising, the new Sunset game looks sweet and even if Killer Instinct sucks I will probably still play the crap out of it since I've been waiting for years. Most all games that are on PS4 are either on Xbox or on PC so as I am primarily a PC gamer... I will still get them.
None of the restrictions effect me. I always have internet, I like cloud gaming as all my PC games (almost) are on Steam, save for the few on Origin or Uplay that are required to be there. Personally, I would be extremely happy if I could just buy and download the games straight from X1 so they will be ready to play by morning and updated by the time I am off work.
I don't care about trading games, renting, or taking a game to my friends house. I am grown up, my friends have their own games and they make demos/reviews for a reason.
Also, since developers will be developing features for motion control, I would rather place my money with Kinect. I know they got that shit worked out now and it's much better. I wouldn't want to deal with Sony bumbling about. I guess the last issue left is quite simply I have found the Xbox community to be more competitive.
Playing bad company 2 on Xbox 360 at my place, I was usually like... 1/1 or 2/1 player. But when I would go over to my buddies house and use his PS3... I was like 3/1 or even 4/1 at times. It was nuts. Same with CoD. Dunno, it could have just been my luck as to who was on but... In general I feel there more competitive players on Xbox within the FPS community at least.
I can see people's gripes... but at the end of the decade I think digital gaming is going to be the norm. People want to talk about gamers rights/consumers rights and tell everyone to make a stand against Xbox... Yeah... No. Publishers have taken note of Steams success and are doing their own digital push. Microsoft is just becoming an early console adopter and making their publishers happy. So if you want to hurt the publishers, stop buying games.
Lol some one needs to look up ryse and they would find out that it's not even a MS game. Its a crytek game but its okay to show your ignorance I guess. Not sure how this went from a good conversation to a fan boy flame war. Really wish some of you would grow the fuck up and get over your FAN BOY SHIT. Its old and sad. It also proves none of you are gamer's but console whores.
Like I said before I'll be getting both for the games I want to play because I'm a gamer and not a whiny fan boy little bitch.
Time for you so called gamer's to grow up. We get it you don't like MS then just move on no reason to come in on good post and turn it into this shit.
GROW THE FUCK UP and I don't care if they ban me. Not sure why I'm even here anymore when this sites full of little kids. Glad your all going to PS4. I won't have to put up with you on XBOX ONE.

This isn't even a console or Fanboy war any more. It's been hijacked by Draconian DRM Vs. Status Quo. Neither of which are "good" just one is less worse than the other.

First of all I just want to say that in no way am I being biased toward any console here. I have owned both consoles and both had their advantages and disadvantages. I totally understand and do not fault anyone who does not like Microsoft's new policies on the Xbox One. Three reasons why I'll be getting a Xbox One.
1. The games. The games were just so much better than what Sony had to offer. Everyone was complaining after Microsoft's first Xbox One's reveal about how there was no focus on games. Totally understand and a very viable gripe but at E3 they clearly had the game advantage and games are what matters most to players. They had Ryse which looked very very good and TitanFall which was amazing. Those Titan mechs were awesome to watch in action. You also had Quantum Break which clearly is going to be open of the most innovative titles this next-gen. Sony maybe more policy friendly towards gamers but games are what matter the most.
2. It is more than just games. Maybe because I'm in my 40's now I look at things a little bit different but having a console at home that gives you more than just games is very appealing to me and perhaps to the older gamer as well. We just don't like games, we also like sports and tv. To have that all in one box is quite nice.
3. A more mature audience. The other thing I will mention that perhaps with Microsoft's new design for the Xbox One you may even get a more mature audience on the Xbox now. You know not every immature 15 year old can afford the new Xbox One. People always complained about how the Xbox gets a bad rap with having a bad community. Perhaps now things will change now that Microsoft seems to be catering towards the more mature crowd these days.
Nope!
Love how points 1 and 2 contradict each other? Its about games but it is more then just games?
These new consoles are over-priced PCs. There is no real reason for a new generation of consoles other then the "Timing" feeling right.
Also Xbox seems to enjoy pissing off and alienating the consumer.
I will wait 6 months to a year for them work out the bugs and buy a PS4. (Mostly for Kingdom hearts 3, unless its on PC?)
Xbox one has just too many bad things going, main being the price and the online thing.
I agree about the games, the line-up of exclusives is better for my taste than Sony's...
BUT
I live in a country NOT supported by Xbox One - and it supports ONLY 21 country in the world. So that's a deal breaker for me even if I wanted to buy Xbox One (I currently own Xbox360).

None of those would be a good reason to me, I pretty much look at a few things: Cost, flex ability and games. Xbox cost more very un-flexible and games...not sure about which would be better since I have not played any.

Yeah I'm not mature for pointing out the facts right? I may have over reacted but its getting pretty old seeing that we can't even have a nice conversation on this site. It's all good you think what you want. It was time to toss it back in his face when he had to come muck up this thread which was a good thread till now.
No the way you said it is what makes you immature friend.

And people wonder why the game industry gets worse... Seriously we in our 30's and up should know better times and we shouldn't give any company that restricts more our money.
Haven't you guys hear them spout out their nonsense? They are so disconnected.
Latest one: for people without connectivity we have a product: the 360.
No I won't buy any of the new consoles. But I wished people were more informed about the stupidity going on at M$.

Yeah, I think their own attitudes and comments would have me off the MS bandwagon in seconds. I think consoles are mainly for teenagers and younger so I don't partake. It is remarkable that there are people anywhere that can drum up support for Xbox and MS at this point. Contrarians are abundant.
I will be buying it for exclusive games and multiconsole games. Most friends play xbox any ways so multiplayer will be mostly on there. People worried about Xbox live. Just know it carries over and is always on sale for $30 a year. Regardless of people complaining about the let friends borrow games thing. How often does that happen and how often does said game break, get lost or stolen? I will buy the ps4 for its exclusives. Psn has never really been great arcade title wise or party chat. Conversations have to be in a text chat or mails. I bought a few ps1 classics and two exclusive arcade titles House of the Dead 4 and Tokyo Jungle. Xbox has done very well from the arcade side with their exclusive games, discounts and rewards.
While I know people talk good of PSN+, every time I look into it nothing interests me. I see the free games they offer but odds are I've played those titles or have zero interest. They do offer discounts on titles which is nice but again nothing says hey buy me. I know people complain about the price of XBL but I have never once paid a full $60 for a year. There are plenty of sales always running and I remember buying the headset bundle with keyboard for about $50 or so.
I don't think Xbox is better than PS4 or Ps4 is better than Xbox. I just want to play the games Sony offers and the games Xbox offers. If it's a multiconsole game odds are I'll get it on xbox for achievements, friends, etc.
I know this check in bothers some people but I don't think it will end up being that big of a deal. If you log into to someone else's Pc for steam you have to do a check in to your email to get the code to confirm its you. I think most people have enough internet to run a check in. How much could it possibly take? I bet you can have one bar of wifi and still check in. Phones can send off hot spots also. The system isn't out yet either. Who knows if they'll add in a email check in? We don't know. People get their feathers ruffled and scream nonsense while over reacting.
I'm glad I can sell my used games through a market place that Microsoft will provide or other retailers. I know people love to resell their games but most of the time A) You don't feel like posting it online. B ) Gamestop is quicker. I don't want to trade my games in for $20 the same week I bought it for $60. If I can post my game on the market place for the price I want then that is fine by me. Wouldn't you rather post a game for $40-60 than take $20 or less from Gamestop?

More than likely he's just a fan that is falling for Microsoft's usual artificial scarcity thing. It seems to work each generation since the XBox first came out.

Every electronics manufacturer does this. iPhones, Nintendo, hot new 3d TV, pretty much anything that will be in demand. They do it to create a sense of urgency so they can sell the most units at full price. If there are unlimmited units available, many people will wait for a sale, but if there is a chance that they will sell out for a month or two, people will rush to secure theirs.
Nobody seems to understand, all of the companies have the same strategies.
Also, he's not a shill. The pre-orders are selling out. Just like the Wii did. Just like they all do. Not everyone lets internet forums do their thinking for them. A lot of the information that keeps getting repeated is false, but it serves the haters to keep repeating it and others are just too lazy.
I'll pass on both...500 bucks for the console then 60 bucks a game just doesn't appeal to me anymore......I dont feel the need to keep up with the Joneses and don't feel like Im missing anything either.

I admire your candid response on a topic which is literally letting loose the dogs of war at the moment. I would like to give my views on some things you might of considered, or perhaps didn't consider. I am going to be a PS4 man myself, which is remarkable considering I usually buy all consoles. But, I will be giving Microsoft a miss on this one sadly.
1) You are quite right that games are what matter. At the end of the day we are gamers, the consoles themselves are nothing but platforms to play upon. Unlike yourself, for Xbox only Dead Rising 3 stroked me the right way, purely because I had enjoyed the previous games. For Playstation, I am not that fussed about the exclusives as of yet unless of course Kingdom Hearts does end up being an exclusive, which could be likely. Sony could buy that move considering the prior games have been a PS2 affair. Seems a bit odd to have just the third game on Xbox unless Kindgom Hearts 1 and 2 get an Xbox debut too.
Thing is, I have never bought a games console based on exclusives. More to do with what will give me a better experience. For me, the Xbox gave a better online experience, even though it was paid for I enjoyed the online much more. For Playstation I bought based on the fact I could import. Mostly ATLUS based games as they take a long ass time to come out in the UK. Catherine took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to come out and I bought a Playstation just for that game and imported it. I then off course enjoyed games I missed out on such as Demon Souls and Disgaea.
Realistically, Microsoft don't have many friends in the JRPG market. Playstation in Japan is the stronger console and I find it likely it will be the console which will continue to get a lot of rich JRPG's in the future. We talk about exclusives now and that Xbox had a strong line up at E3, but I think end game speaking the Playstation will gather a lot more games that meet my interest more than the Xbox will.
The Xbox had Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey going for it, which is why I bought the Xbox first. This time around, nothing catches my eye and with their online authentication system I feel that a lot of Japanese players will be isolated by this, considering many of them use internet cafes for their online gaming needs. Thus, prompting more sales of the Playstation in Japan and securing more RPG's in the future.
This off course, is just my view and the gambit I am making.
2) This is to your preference, trouble is, I am in my 30's so not much younger than yourself and a lot of the features mentioned do benefit Americans than they do Europeans. There is not much of an incentive there for me. I have TV already (which I don't watch to be honest as I am a gamer) I also loath kinnect with a passion. We have one, never used it in honest. It was a short lived gimmick and the functions of this enforced kinnect doesn't tickle me to be honest. It is most certainly not worth the mark up in price for it mandatory purchase.
3) I am not sure where you are getting this from, the internet is the internet and people that are anon will always be anon and many of them will be annoying an immature. However, the console is not geared towards the more mature crowd to which I assume 'adult'. Kids will ask their parents for a console for Christmas and they will get it, the mark up in price does not mean that only adults can afford it and as such the community will be more mature.
No, far from it. With the functions, tv and capabilities of the Xbox it will be just like the 360, but with the spin that it's more 'family' friendly because when the kids are in bed you can watch sports and make a dream team.
Xbox if I am honest have been bad at business here and they failed horribly by trying to make their consumer adapt to their business model. Where as good business adapts to the consumer. But, Microsoft has always been kinda out of touch and arrogant. Not all of them, but they have in the majority.
It was only the other day that one of the guys said 'We have an Xbox with offline mode, its called a 360'. What arrogance and disdain they show to their consumers and their concerns.
The point being, if you are playing COD on PS4 or X1 you are still going to get the irritating, rude and abusive players. You are suddenly not going to log into a match and be met with "By the gods jeeves, that young upstart took my grenade to the face most profoundly! Bully!"
It's your choice at the end of the day mate, but do it for the games and how easy it is for that console to meet your gaming requirements. Otherwise if your not a gamer, there's cheaper ways to watch TV.
For me, X1 is out the question, I take my consoles with me on my business trips where I am gone for 6 weeks at a time around the country. Places I go often don't have an internet connection. I would be screwed if I wanted to play games but I couldn't authenticate.
And, although the used games thing doesn't affect me as I don't buy used games. I just feel that the means Microsoft went was to line their own pockets with gold more than it being for the publishers sake as Microsoft take a cut. They are ALWAYS looking for a slice of pie and they honestly don't give a rats ass whose window ledge they take it from. You've seen those old cartoons with the massive, warm pie and some cartoon character trying to nab it? Well, doesn't end well for them at all.

Both of those games will be on Xbox One. I think Witcher 3 was actually announced during the Xbox press conference at E3.

"What I can, however, guarantee here and now, is that if you want the 100 per cent DRM-free experience you will have it on the PC, the platform where we set the rules for our games. The Witcher 3 will be available 100 per cent DRM-free on our digital distribution platform GOG.com, and that's one thing I can confirm."
Your "mature" community right here Normandy7. Enjoy it I guess.
This isn't even a console or Fanboy war any more. It's been hijacked by Draconian DRM Vs. Status Quo. Neither of which are "good" just one is less worse than the other.
One more pot shot because shoot, I've earned it:
This "It doesn't mater to me so it should mater to NO ONE", is the height of immaturity and ignorance, take your own advice.
MMORPG Gamers/Developers need a reality check!
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
None of those would be a good reason to me, I pretty much look at a few things: Cost, flex ability and games. Xbox cost more very un-flexible and games...not sure about which would be better since I have not played any.
No the way you said it is what makes you immature friend.

NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
And people wonder why the game industry gets worse... Seriously we in our 30's and up should know better times and we shouldn't give any company that restricts more our money.
Haven't you guys hear them spout out their nonsense? They are so disconnected.
Latest one: for people without connectivity we have a product: the 360.
No I won't buy any of the new consoles. But I wished people were more informed about the stupidity going on at M$.
The Title of this thread is "Why I and maybe you will be getting a Xbox One"
My brief reply is that you will but HELL NO I will not.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
