Closing Icewatch Server
Alright so. Trion's infinte wisdom to deal with a over populated server is to shut it down. they have given us 1 hour of warning. our guild bank is full and our guild transfer cannot have items in the bank. this is all with 1 hour warning.
Seriously Trion, you used to be a nice friendly company.

They are not closing the server, they are converting it to Trial shard.

So you and your guild will have plenty of time to transfer, even after the conversion.
They even remove the transfer restrictions once it's a Trial shard.

They are closing it BECAUSE its so full. i know their logic feels weird to me aswell. its true however even if they are doing that. give us more than 1 hour notice. i have no problem with this transfer. however i just recieved a phone call from a friend of mine yelling at me to get online because of this.
They are opening 2 more servers in exchange for turning this one into a trial.
Think of it this way. Icewatch is a server that commonly goes over 1k-2k queue. so lets hit em with a hour notice that somethings happening.

The funny thing is... since it's free to play... why do you need trial shards? Seems silly.
I stand by my belief that they are shifting folks off of older server hardware onto newer hardware... and consolidating the servers down, not adding to them... in the long run.
This is pretty shitty. Better way to deal with it is this:
temporarily remove transfers to Icewatch
offer people a few riftbucks (or patron time) to switch all their server toons to a different server
This is a shockingly customer unfriendly way to deal with the problem, which really shouldn't be a surprise to Trion.
The trial shards are their PR for closing servers. the trial thing was always a lie because the trial wasnt even available on the trial servers.
However this isnt a consolidation, this is the server got so big because everyone transferred to it over the course of the last 2 years, and now everyone wants to join their friends on it and flock to the happening server.
Its a way to get people to move to other servers.
Is the game not F2P in the EU? If it is F2P, what is there to trial?
