I've had an active Rift sub since launch, the way leveling changed since launch is drastic. People used to quest grind, that is the slowest way of leveling up. Its fine if you want to take it slow, but it is least efficient.
1-48 - instant adventures, the levels will fly!
48+ Storm legion quests with IA and carnage mixed in. Carnage is the fastest way to level post 50 if you have a good group.
thats why i like RIFT. you have options and most of them are towards group play.
maybe it isn't the best mmo, but imo feels more like a mmo than any other in the market.

the way i understand it is you either sub or you don't, when it comes to logins. there are subpremium bonuses for those who actually spend money, but those are mostly Loyalty rewards and that's about it iirc.
