I see lots of "hate" aimed at "Gold Selling Spammers" in games.
I see lots of "hate" aimed at Cash Shops, and the gold and services they sell.
I am a capitalist, and I have taken some economics classes, and find watching markets work to be of much interest.
Now....For yeas I have believed that there is actually a large portion, if not a full majority that purchase gold. I believe most of this segment of population comes from WoW. Please let me finish before the hate. I believe that since WoW has the largest population of all. Just statistics, just statistics. WoW also had, still has?, a large population of "younger" players. The same group of "younglings" that pirates music..blah blah. Now I understand that there are many "oldies" that do this stuff as well but that actually isn't my point.
My point?
CHINEASE GOLD SELLING IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, A PROBLEM. IT ISNT GOING AWAY. MANY MANY MANY ARE STILL BUYING GOLD.
I know because for weeks now I see tons of threads here on the forums selling gold for this game and that.
I don't fault the sellers, I fault the buyers, and just like America needs treatment to end the "War on Drugs", the MMOverse needs treatment to get off buying gold.

I don't blame the sellers.
Just like I only blame the drug cartels for the violence they bring down. Chopping heads off is way over the top. As far as them supplying drugs....It is a case of "See a need, fill a need."
Same with Gold selling. I doubt that the gold farmers/sellers, were sitting around and said "Hey, I bet if we sold some gold folks would buy." Nope they said "These fools are wanting to buy gold, let us supply them.".
I think it is the result of many many little things that have brought us here.
As I hate, for semantics reasons, "It is what it is.".
Just wanted to grumble about the recent spam posts I have seen. Thought it might be more productive than hyping/hating games that wont release for years.

I wouldn't really have an issue with it if they were actually farming the gold and selling it but they stopped doing that years ago.
All these people getting their accounts hacked you always hear about....that is where the gold comes from. You put in an order they go into as many accounts as they need to and gather up the gold and send it off to you. The devs want to ban them for selling gold ? big deal it wasn't a real account anyway it was some players. This is why when you get your accoutn back there's always some lvl 1 toon on it with a name like jdrjvlrnkrsj. He was the collector that mailed off the gold.
The free trial thing lets them spam their site but it isn't how they get the gold.
So for everyone that says it's a victimless crime....it's not. A group of people lost everything so you could have that gold. On the internet there's always someone who will think that's fine or funny but when it happens to them it's a tragedy the devs should be trying to stop!!!!
I don't overly invest emotions in things i cannot change.
RMT happened. It is not going back. If it does not detract from my fun (which is most of the time), i play games with it. Otherwise, i do something else. It is that simple.
Unfortunately, this is true. They no longer farm gold, they hack peoples accounts for gold.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....

the success of gold sellers is based on people wanting instant gratification. i doubt you can re-educate people how they play their games - gold sellers will thrive.
i personally don't see the appeal of buying stuff, i want to earn it...
I think gold-selling cash shops are a pretty good solution. I can't say I mind if someone buys gold with real money, but I do mind hackers and spammers.
Personally i love the gem exchange of GW2, because iit pulls te over exceeded gold out of the game and helps to keep te prices from raising to extreme hights..
goldsellers however dont pull gold out of the game, they create extra gold on a large scale and dump it, ruining much of he econnomy
if you look at it his way cashshops actually help the game as long as they dont sell any obvious i win items
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

i remember helping gold farmers 10 years ago....
now i have to buy extra protection for my accounts so i dont get hacked and all my stuff taken...
sad world
Can we get a legit "AAA" MMO that charges a premium subscription of $20-$30 a month?
Legit being all those nice bells and whistles of proper customer support, development of funds back into the game. Trusty servers and the like. All for one flat monthly fee?
I'm not trying to force feed these publishers our money, but from what I can tell from the Free-2-Play; Pay-2-Win push they are making a substantial more profit covincing people on F2P and the vaule of using microtransactions and Cash Shop convience. To me it sometimes comes off much like the whole Dead Space 3 and the day one DLC thing. People paying extra for stuff that's already in game and just needs to flip a '1' to a '0'.
It's not an extact comparision but just the carrots they put out have been on the sticks way long already and aren't even the freshest ones of the bunch. But yet folks chase them around.
Then you have games like Age of Wushu, GW2 who basically are the goldsellers in practice. They've just tried to middle-man the middle-man that was originally there scamming the people. Goldselling now isn't really the same as it was, maybe there were the elements of the hacking instead of the actual farming. Now though it's more or less your recieving "stolen" property instead of second hand property that was scrupulously attained.
There are instances where the Cash Shop ($600 prize ferrets) and Goldselling worldwideweb.WAT3VRDAFUQ.spam is all over in your face and you're like.. BrrrrrHaaaa Relax!
F2P is becoming a bane...
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
No. The ship has long sailed.
I don't know where the idea that RMT has become a problem that cannot be solved. Very few developers actually take RMT as a serious problem, and the ones that do miraculously have only small issues with RMT.
