Bored out of my mind!

JakzyJakzy Member Posts: 68

Hi, I need a multiplayer game, preferably a free MMO that me and my GF can waste a few hours on here and there.

I would greatly appreciate if u say what games u are playing right now and what's good about them.

Thanks!

I am having a blast in Rift. It is now F2P.
  • I was trying to enjoy Marvel Heroes this week. Played about 5 hours early yesterday, then the server went down and they did a rollback. Trying to convince myself to keep playing.

I am also so bored that it's driving me absolutely nuts.

Got some pizza, wings and beer and am watching 24hours of le mans today. Little bit of Skyrim. Only problem with Skyrim, for me, is that it is single player.

I really want a new (or new to me) game to make some new friends and socialize in.

I've heard good things about Rift, I acctually tried it when it was in beta. Didn't feel like it was worth my time back then.

    What's good about it? :)

    Thanks for the response!

  • Also worth noting. I played Rift at launch. I played a cleric to level mid-20s, had a blast in PvP. The fang was the only thing that could kill me. Was fun while it lasted.

Played a rogue to level 50 and did a little bit of end game. But I did not enjoy the combat of the rogue after awhile with the system of doing attacks that built resources (up to 5) and then abilities that spent the resources. Just got too repetitive for my liking.

So then I rolled a mage. But I couldn't force myself to level through the mid to late level 30 zone, Moonshade Highlands. That zone is just too bland and wide open without character to it.

The other thing that killed the game for me was the anonymity of and the lack of socializing when it comes to rifts and dungeon finder groups, etc.

My gf spent hundreds of  hours on Skyrim, I would definitely play it if it wasn't for the fact that it's single player, unfortunately that bores way to quickly : /

Right now me and my gf are really looking forward to Star Citizen, but until the realse and between work we just want something to waste some time on.

we are currently saving money for a few music festivals and a vacation trip, there by we really need a free mmo.

Side note: It would also be nice with a game that doesn't take weeks to learn

  • I understand, especially on the money side. Most of my time is spent applying for jobs. When I'm not doing that or exercising, I like to have a good game to play. Consider yourself blessed to have a girlfriend. Imagine how bored you'd be if, like me, you didn't have that going for you.

I have too many girlfriends.  They can be a pain.

Theyre always like ... Ooh baby sex me here, sex me there, all day, every day.

Who has the time for all that?

Being unemployed provided the financial motivation to quit smoking. I was not smoking cigarettes, so you can imagine how expensive my habit was.

The exercising was motivated by a lack of a girlfriend. Please don't take any approach based on my motivation, or your then ex-girl would be seriously pissed at me, lol.

Eating right, portion control, no more fast food, no more soda, lots more water... all of that was motivated by my lack of energy to complete the exercise routines.

I actually quit smoking after starting the exercise and eating right. It took a few months for everything to come together. But I found the motivation to exercise. Then everything else fell in place afterwards in order to facilitate the exercise.

Since January 24th I've lost 30 pounds and two notches on my belt. Once you start to see the results come in, the motivation comes much easier.

I could free up a portion of your time, send one of them my way.

That must be a drag dude, maybe u should change your number..

Anyways, it feels like this post went of topic :p

  • Yeah, just a bit. Back on topic. I like to go the Game List tab at the top of this site. Then sort by rating so the higher rated games are at the top. Then look down through the Pay and Fee columns.

I'm going to put in a vote for Rift also! My husband and I are really enjoying it. I've subbed on and off since release, but this is his first time playing it. It's safe to say that he's pretty addicted. I think you and your girlfriend could have some fun together! :)

I've heard good things about the housing... HOWEVER, it is privately instanced. I won't be impressed with a game's housing until it's in the open world or a public instance if the game is instanced.

The crafting is same ole same ole, and limited to 2 professions per character iirc... Or maybe 3. I remember there being a limit to how many gathering skills and crafting skills. Don't remember for certain if the limit applied to both gathering and crafting as a whole. I just remember having to split them up amongst multiple characters

The housing system is one of the best I've seen. It really allows your creativity to run wild. As someone else said, the down side is that it's instanced. BUT you can set your dimension to public so anyone can come and go (even move and place stuff if you let them).

The crafting is very basic. You've probably seen it in 100 other MMOs.

Dragon's Prophet is honestly a good time killer and a lot of fun with taming dragons in the world. (I'll just copy paste here parts of what I wrote in another post):

If you want to try a new class, check out the Oracle that uses a scythe (I might be a bit biased being one ;)). I usually only play range dps (mainly mages) but this melee type character is fun.

Dragon's Prophet also is different since your mounts aren't bought with cash or ingame money or anything - it's the dragon's in the world that you tame. Flying dragons, fast land dragons, water dragons, gliders, etc... The game is more interesting in a guild as you get to have these dragon flutes to summon dragons.

Also I find the leveling is a bit slower especially closer to the level cap 60 which helps draw it out a bit. They're actually implementing a new zone in a few weeks and bumping up the cap so it's a good time to get started :) Give me a shout if you ever have any questions about it or looking for a guild - Nymira in game on the Kronos server :)

Rift and beta testing Final Fantasy realm reborn.

good thing about rift is , it's closest to world of warcraft without being cartoony. and you all know that nothing have ever been as good as world of warcraft.

If you are bored with your girlfriend you might consider changing those...

there are many many great choices, if the both of you like great stories with voice overs and solving mysteries, tsw and swtor are great choices.

if you prefer to run around in a beautifull world and just see things of beauty and actions happening all around you you might opt for GW2

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

100% disagree with your WoW assessment. There are many games that I've enjoyed a lot more than WoW, Rift being one of them.

WoW after vanilla IMO has all been downhill - just my opinion.

ofc you disagree like most people on this forum but i dont give a hoot what you think about wow, also saying that cliche wow after vanilla is so last season man and vanilla wow was not even good compared to this state. release the anger man.
