Barbarian Rogue. fuck it. let all races be all classes. why not? and dont say balance. thats bullshit.

I'm all for opening up the racial class options up a little, but I think they need to remain firmly planted in the lore and keep to archetypes. A Dark Elf Bard seems feasible, as does a Barbarian Ranger, and a Half-Elf Cleric (I was playing around with the EQ1 character creator today, and I was kinda shocked that this option wasn't available).

With that said, do I want to see Iksar Paladins, High Elf Berserkers, and Ogre Enchanters....no. And for the love of god, DO NOT make Dark Elf Rangers an available option!

So a no for me on all races/all classes.

P.S. Barbarians could always be Rogues. ;)

That is no fun. I loved the fact in EQ2 that you could play any race with any class. Variety is always a good thing unless it directly contradicts lore. I believe you could get away with having Ogre Enchanters and Dark-Elf Rangers in EQ lore and be fine, besides they are going with an alternate universe.

I always wanted to be a Dark-Elf Monk since I first played Everquest. When the game launched I remember messing around with an Ogre alt that I had made and I noticed a group beating up on Ogre guards. They would occasionally let me loot the steel swords, so it made for good starter money but I noticed something. There was a Dark-Elf doing flying kicks against the Ogre Guards. My mind was blown. This little Elf was beating the crap out of Ogre's four times his size. I asked him how he was a Dark-Elf and a Monk at the same time since it wasn't an option. He told me of the Mask (I forgot its name), but by the time I had reached a point that I could get it the mask was made Bard/Rogue only.

When I found out I could make Dark-Elf Monk/Bruiser in EQ2 that is definitely the path I took.  Too bad EQ2 sucked...

Wood elf Warrior.  I played him as my main through the Planes of Power, even MT'ed for a Nox raid but after that I couldn't MT anymore and felt rather gimped.  I'm all for racials, but I hope there is some way to counter them for the player to be as effective as Barb or Ogre warriors.

Karana is cool, but my Wood Elf Druid disagrees with you sir.

And Jagsman, my desire to not see Dark Elf Rangers in the game has nothing to do with EQ lore, its so that we aren't subjected to a thousand characters running around with the name Drizzzzzzzt (add more Z's if name is unavailable), talking about how lame the game is because they cant have a panther companion on their ranger. ;)

Beastlord and for race will depend on racials and models.  Alt with be an enchanter again no idea on race yet.

Dark Elf and I hope they abandon classes and go with a skill-based system.

EQ and EQ2 were classes done right, so I actually hope there is a class system, but i want a gigantic AA system to complement it so you can develop your class in some different directions, and not just a lame three tree system.

Depending on the true world size, and the availability of instance transport, or lack thereof, I would love to play a druid again. Having people pay 5pp for a port to somewhere was a great way to make some quick money early in the game. Also handing out free sows to newbies, was fun.

If traveling is too easy in this game, possibly a necro or a chanter. Never really played these two in the original for any amount of time, but grouping with even half way decent players made me respect the classes as a whole. Though on the flip side, a poorly played toon could completely tear down a group faster than it took to zone.

I am a self professed alt-a-holic, so I will probably dabble in most of the classes, provided you don't have to pay to unlock all but the most basic classes. It was good for an old game like EQ when they did that, but for a new game, all beginning classes should be free.

What i wouldn't do to play a Dark Elf Shadowknight again........

Not that one from EQ2 either, i want Invis, FD, Levitate and Shadow Step.

And get rid of those stupid cooldowns from EQ2 while your at it. 20 to 30 secs on nearly every ability is just plain retarded.

I hope the races have little to no special abilities, so I can pick what I want without feeling like I need to min/max a choice.

EQ1 was brutal about that in the early years.   Some races were just comically better than others.

I played EQ1, but I played EQ2 more and I almost always played a Ratonga and usually had a ratonga Necromancer.

    Currently bored with MMO's.
