Well...which NPCs are you hunting and where? You have picked the two most popular battleships in the game currently, either is good in it's own right. Setups, depends how you are going to fight also, long range, or in close?

My guess, though I have very little experience with battleships, is that an Apoc is the better NPC hunter. It is made to be armor tanked and take an extreme amount of damage. The Caldari ship is excellent for PvP.

Like I said, throw us some more information...I'll even see what I can dig up for you when I know what you are looking for. ::::02::

The Raven at the moment has the upper hand. We'll have to see after the missile rebalancing. This is because if a few frigates get under your radar and in close range on an Apoc, you'll have one hell of a time dealing with thim with your terrible tracking on large laser turrets. You'd have to hope you can warp out and back in or wait for your drones to take them out, and if they use scramblers as a lot of higher end NPC's do - all you've got are your drones to fall back on and hope they last long enough. The raven on the other hand can fire torps at range, but if a frig closes in load cruise missiles in and, since they require no tracking, have a much better chance at taking out those frigs fairly easilly.

Hate to disagree on one of my first posts, especially seen as NFWolfDude just welcomed me here. (Here goes a big post I'm bored.)

The Raven at the moment is an excellent NPC ship and PvP ship. The reason being, it can hit anything at any range. This may change in future patches as they're going to nerf the torpedo and cruise missile so it won't be as effective against small targets. I'm not sure how far away this nerf is and how severe it will be.

In 0.0 you have to think about being attacked by other players so set ups vary. But generally based on skills.

6 siege launchers with an array of cruise and torpedos. The Raven can deliver any damage type where as the Apoc is limited to thermal and EM. The Apoc relies on its limited launcher slots to deal other damage types. You may want to consult the eve-i database to see which ammo is more effective against your chosen target.

Put a large or extra large shield booster in a mid slot. You need a shield boost amplifier and a couple of active shield hardeners (orange ones). Check the eve-i database to match the hardeners to the type of damage your chosen target dishes out. Or just pick hardeners to patch up the weakest attributes on the Raven, thermal and EM from memory.

For the remaining mid slot, you can either use a sensor booster to lock quickly or a webber to keep the little guys still while you kill them. You may even need a cap rechrger to keep your shield hardeners going.

In the low slots I use tech 2 power diagnostics but you may not have the skill. You will have to put what ever you can in to equip the other slots, or maybe cap relays to help recharge rate. A ballistic control to improve dmage or some reactors to fill the remaining 2 high slots. Medium or small guns are fine for those as you'll meet frigates.

    My Raven set up follows.

    6 siege, 2 Neutron Blasters.

1 T2 large shield booster, shield boost amplifier, thermal and EM hardener, T2 sensor booster.

4 T2 power diagnostic units, 1 T2 ractor control unit.

Tactics are shoot the little guys first then the cruisers, then the battleships. The neutrons are back for breaking the tank of stubborn battleships. The T2 booster and amp give good boost without over draining my cap. The power diags boost my cap and shield recharge as well as shield hit points.

Tha Apoc relies on tracking so if you have range you're fine. Its best to use lasers on Amarr ships. They don't use ammo which is good but the cap is very important. don't worry about shields as you should armor tank an Apoc. Use armor hardeners and repairers in the low slots. You must equip as many launchers as you can, that way you can hit targets that come in close and inflict other damage types as thermal and EM are useless against things like Supreme Drone Parasites. Use the mids to keep the lasers and tank running, tracking computer maybe a good idea as well to help the guns hit.

Suggest a good read of the ships and mods forum on eve-online as well. The above may indicate I know something about Ravens but the possibilities are endless and always depend on skills.

thx for your reply. I have been in EVE world about two weeks . I traveled through 0.0 space with my friend only one time then my ship blew up image. I guess you must wonder why such a rookie went there? image well,i just wanna mine there,so i want my ship to be a good tanker while my gangs and i mining.Maybe one day when i getting stronger,i could fight them back. I can't remember the NPC pirate 's name around the roid belt, maybe angel or something... Do i make myself clearly this time?

Looking forward to your reply again!!   image

Angels are pretty tough rats. It takes high end skills to tank anything big, but if you take out the rats until you get a week spawn you maybe be able to tank that. But eventually they may fly off and the next spawn comes along. I suggest killing everything that comes along really, loot and bounty is nice. Tanking is hard, killing is easy.

However, you can mine without killing anything. Get a good mining cruiser or battleship. I suggest a cruiser such as an Osprey that has a mining bonus. There is a minmatar one but i forget its name, Scythe? Cruisers are cheap to lose. Insta bookmark your jet can that you mine into, so that a hauler drops right on top of it ,so he can haul quickly. Also insta bookmark the station so you dock instantly. This is done by bookmarking your location around 13km beyond the location in line with from where you warped in. its a good idea to have a safe spot as well and an insta from the safe spot to the station.

When mining, point your ship ready to run. Hit warp to your safe spot or station and then hit stop quick before it goes. You'll be pointing right at it then. Also throw cheap drones out if you can, the npcs target those first and give you time to leave. As soon as rats spawn hit warp. Because a cruiser is quick and is already facing the right way you'll warp real fast. Then just wait until the npcs move on.

I would align for a safe spot because a player pirate may go straight for the station. Watch for probes on the scanner if in a safe spot they may come looking for you. Always scout belts at 60k as well, if feelign brave use a pod, npcs don't target them. If you do get caught by npcs try and kill the small scramblers first so you can get away.

Then the dificult bit, getting the ore back to safe space. :)

Nearly forgot the most important bit. Keep the local channel on one side of your screen away from your other chat windows. Keep it visible at all times. Check everyone that appears in it. Assume everyone to be the enemy. Run away first and check then go back when satisfied. AFK kills in 0.0.

For hunting in 0.0? Apoc by far. You will go nuts hauling all the torps for raven while apoc dont need ammo so you will have more cargo space for loot. You can get yourself some remote deep space location and hunt there long as you wish.
