    Well don't double click...image

    Sorry had too.

But seriously: seems like a problem with you GPU communicating with you CPU......just maybe.

Is this a new system?, perhaps you are not giving you GPU enough power?

These are all maybe's, I am no computer expert but am able to Always build my own gaming systems which seems to Always run flawless.

It could be your power supply is not functioning well enough to power your gpu, or is just going out period.

To get any help at all you will need to give your computer specs, psu model, ect. The more detail the better.

If your pc is old make sure there are no accumulation of dust on the video card gpu and your cpu (and thier fans) if they cant cool properly it pretty much makes you pc shutdown.

Post your specs, especially your power supply, motherboard, video card, processor, and case.

Had the same issue and came down to power supply, which you may think sounds stupid but it was.  Power supplies are different in the sense of number of rails and how much power each rail can output / handle.  When you load a game the computer needs to use more power(IE CPU, GPU, etc) and if supply reaches load it turns off to protect itself and the system.  My problem was the new one I bought was splitting the total power across 4 rails and apparently I was overloading a rail, when I switched to a single rail power supply PC works perfect but I got instant shutdowns with 4 rail power supply.  Never figured out if it was bad or just junk.  Just something to consider.

I think the OP is missing too many details in his story.  We need to know exactly what is happening in order to help fix the issue.

Does it instantly power off, or does it go through the Windows shutdown cycle?

Does it happen when you double-click, or does it happen as the game is loading?

Does it happen with all games?

Does it happen with 2-D applications?

Does it happen with games that have a launcher window before getting to a 3-D application?

The answers to these questions can help narrow the field of possibilities.  Right now, it could be a virus, software/driver issue, or hardware issue.  Of the hardware components, it could be the power supply or video card.

It really sounds like this is his problem. If it was a dead fan or dust he'd have shut downs during game play not as soon as he tried to load something. Or at least not every time.
