ya i think so too but if they find no other solution, this would be one of many
all factions will have something special so IG as only faction with bots could be possible ^^
I do agree you should have a weak "f2p" class for every faction, just so you can check out said faction. Better then just being like...'well, how does that class on that faction look...?' And never know
I like the idea to introduce IG, cause i dont think that all players that want to play an imperial character are interested in a super uber SM, maybe someone just prefer something different.

Originally posted by Sasami Keep dreaming OP. It will be mirrored classes between sides in effort to "balance" PvP. Ofc balance and 40k are like water and oil, never mix well.
No, the devs have said that balance, while a welcome thing, is probably not going to happen. They also stated that F2P players WILL only have access to classes that are deliberately unbalanced. If they want to play with the big boys and have access to classes that can actually stand a chance in a 1v1 fight, they are gonna have to pay.
As it stands, only Orks are getting this crap class that requires a group to properly stand a chance, but some of us are hoping that all the other factions get this F2P option, if only to keep groups of people who are mixed, people who are willing to pay and people who are afraid of online transactions, to stay together.
what part of " other f2p factions would kill the horde purpose" u guys dont understand. im all for all factions, but im more inclined to believe in a organic and realistic growing than a total mess of overpromises that saturate the market now.

if we get free IG and orkboys then it would be like 75% IG and 25% orkboys, and SM will be the most popular payrace too

so we will have such an unbalanced population
I wouldn't go so far as saying that the SM will be the most popular race. It will all depend on the coolness factor for the other races. I do think the SM will prob. be the easiest race to play as they tend to be more versitile but then in a quick 2nd would be the chaos SMs'. If done right the Eldar will have a lot of the experinced players as they will tend to use better tactics.
And even if SM outnumber everyone else they will be the main ones learning how nasty the Nids can be as they have to split there forces to cover an added warfront thus allowing the other races a better chance of overcoming the number disadvantage.
Let me emphasize again, I don't want to see Guard at release. I'd rather wait and let the team develop the vanilla game first, let the initial player base settle in, and THEN introduce new content.
The release is a crucial time for the game when players decide for sure what faction they want to be on, and frankly those times are probably the only times I've been in PvP based MMOs that were actually balanced. Introduce new stuff too early and that's when you start seeing zergs just bullrush across the map.
Beyond that though, I don't think they have enough different 'unique' soldiers to field as a faction. All I can think of are techpriests, skitarii and electro-priests. Even then, I don't know if electro-priests are still canon.
That still leaves them underclassed. I mean if you only allow the sort of stuff in the tabletop, then all you have are techpriests really. The other mechanicus stuff comes from the Horus Heresy, and half of that is legio cybernetica.

i think we shouldnt limit this game to the tabletop stuff
there is much more in the wh40k universe
i will list how i could imagine a mechanicus faction: Special Faction ability: Centurio Ordinatus = high customizable troops/vehicles/knights
Walker class (like dreadnoughts): robots of Legio Cybernetica (different types and customizable)
Infantry classes:
Skitarii: light combat unit, las and projectile weapons some special stuff like other light units
Combat Techpriest: heavy class, big lasguns and projectile weapons , rocket launcher mounted to their shoulders
Ingineer Tech Priest: support class, a verity of laser and projectile weapons, can repair vehicles and can support vehicles
the only thing i dont know how to handle is a melee type class, there are some but they are not made for getting into melee range fast, some ideas here?
found this nice guy Thallax: jump pack assault unit, with some melee and some heavy ranged weapons
oh and maybe we should stay to the topic sorry guys^^
As I have mentioned on other topic, there is a way to make IG units weak and still viable - make them do SUPPORT role. Main classes for IG would be variations of Heavy Weapons Teams, with some tactical opportunities represented by Kasrkins. There are also Sniper Teams and Ogryns. Should be enough, and there is always Adeptus Mechanicus.
What about Guardsmen, well, it would be ok to make them f2p class for Imperium, just as someone brought up the point that f2p and premium players can be separated by different races.
Yeah, and there is plenty of time for devs to think about IG after they stabilize the game after release, so let us not push them.

i thin another f2p class/faction would kill the hordefeeling of orks
cause there are much more IG fans then orkfans(exspecialy if they can just play orkboys)

Well since IG are not going to happen at the launch, f2p classes for each race would fit in the expansions.
Well yeah, but when, or IF it happens, I really hope it's just a singular guardsmen. Because that way it keeps the F2P mechanic of being a horde player that is terribad when straying to far from others. You can't be guardsmen marbo.
Initially your only abilities will allow you to stand a chance against F2P ork boyz...provided you stay out of chopping range. Later on you can upgrade to using hotshot lasbolts and maybe replace your cardboard cutout armor with carapace armor, which should allow you a decent chance of taking out the bigger stuff.

btw do you want to see the mechanicum as part of the IG faction?
i would like to see them as stand alone cause they have enough units to fill all the roles a faction needs
im so excited about this game, i almost cant ressist to create a thread for all possible factions and discuss how to implement them

Yeah but how many people would want to play a servitor? Or a servo skull?
As I said, the Mechanicus, and to the same extent the Dark Mechanicum, is sure to be present in some way, but nothing beyond NPCs.
Dreah I'm yunk, wazzit matter to you?
Servitors and servo skulls could be pets for some classes of the Mechanicus.
