No he is completely correct. Aion is a very clunky game compared to WoW. Once you get used to a WoW or a GW2 it is hard to play a game like Aion or Rift or WAR etc. There is just such a difference in quality of movement, animations, combat pacing etc. I quit Aion for the same reasons, the combat felt so sluggish compared to the better games I've played. There was nothing wrong with the features, it was the basic gameplay.

Aion is a pretty cool game, but in no way is it a good PvP game lol, unless you consider unbalanced stun locks till dead good PvP.

The cooldowns and skills in Aion were obviously designed with PvE in mind cause for PvP it is just sad and like so many other PvE games that attempt PvP it is just flat out one sided battles.

All I have to say on this is Aion has become a really deep and complex game. It's incredible now. Re-installed a few weeks ago and loving it. Way better than anything out there right now despite it going free to play.

Obviously you haven't played it lately, I would have said the same thing since I was a WoW player for like forever. But after playing Aion recently I will have to agree it is so far beyond wow's gameplay it really isn't even funny. It's like vanilla wow would have been AFTER all of Blizzards expansions would have been if Blizzard hadn't massacred it's on game with all the dumbing down of content! Aion is as polished as can be and will tailor itself to your computer's potential. If you have the setting set to high for your computer yes you will have issues. But game still looks amazing on low end machines...you just have to tweak your settings to your specific computer. And the interface is completely customizable. What more could one want?

I was looking at Aion today and thought about going back to the game, but there are many things that turn me away from the game after taking a the game.

I agree the game has nice visuals, graphics & and artwork, and I like some of the music, and sound effects in the game very talented developers.

What I do not like is the Over-All game design when it comes to the following things & Pay 2 Enjoy aspect.

. Limited Characters, I can't play all characters on a single account if I wanted to assuming I max level all characters and toons with two new added classes I need two new additional slots.

. Housing, Based on cash shop description I have limited housing spaces, and have to pay Real money for (Rental) this is pay 2 enjoy and reason it turns me away from Aion.

. Cosmetic Armors, Like really, I hate the cosmetic skinning system, this needs an overhaul to work similar to (Rift) (Runes OF Magic), so players can use account bound cosmetic armors from a collection rather than have to go to a npc,, buy dyes and all this it needs update.

. Limited Crafting, If I remember correctly it is still 2 crafts per character can't max them all?

. Can't create Elyos/Asmo on the same exact server pretty dumb if you ask me they want me to play one but I can't because of faction lock.

. Plastic Surgery tickets cost per day/ 1 time, this is stupid, I would rather pay a flat rate subscription fee or $20 a month for bundled content, and freedom of customization.

Over-All Aion could be a great game, but with these issues and these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head I really don't feel like playing it due to these reasons mainly if Aion was more up to date, and had flat based subscriptions offering the things like I listed above I would play the game, but while the game looks tempting because of the good graphics it still doesn't make up for my feeling of pay 2 enjoy aspect of the game, and content the game lacks that has to be paid for.

I played Aion the day it first came out and played in the Beta, the original reason I quit Aion in the first place was because of plastic surgery tickets rather than giving me unlimited customization for my monthly subscription they limit me so I quit.

If Aion was developed similar to Kingdoms of Amalur offering what I have said above for a flat monthly fee + other cash shop items, allowed housing where players could craft anything in their own house rather than be restricted, then I think more would play it, but compared to what I saw when I first played Aion over 8 servers all full Aion has like 4 servers or something none of them were full all low population at least the time I logged on but that doesn't matter its a MMORPG and MMORPG should have over 1000+ Players active at all times.

Hopefully they will improve, But I doubt it and honestly even today's games like ESO, are turning me away from their games already, and only games I feel are worth playing based on videos on their site showing game play.

You can make as many accounts as you want.

. Housing, Based on cash shop description I have limited housing spaces, and have to pay Real money for (Rental) this is pay 2 enjoy and reason it turns me away from Aion.

You pay kinah to maintain your house.   The housing is limited though so you'd have to go through the auction system to find one that's on sale and bit on it.

. Cosmetic Armors, Like really, I hate the cosmetic skinning system, this needs an overhaul to work similar to (Rift) (Runes OF Magic), so players can use account bound cosmetic armors from a collection rather than have to go to a npc,, buy dyes and all this it needs update.

There's an entire in game economy tied to the skin system.   Many players use this as a way to make kinah.    In fact all the best skins are not in the cash shop, unlike in GW2 or TERA where they sell exclusive skins that are highly sought after in the cash shop only.

. Limited Crafting, If I remember correctly it is still 2 crafts per character can't max them all?

Actually with a new tier to the crafting mastery, you can only max 1 craft now.  Either way it's not a crafting centric game so if you're looking to do a lot of crafting I'd suggest FFXIV

. Can't create Elyos/Asmo on the same exact server pretty dumb if you ask me they want me to play one but I can't because of faction lock.

You can make a different account and make your opposite faction character to the same server.

. Plastic Surgery tickets cost per day/ 1 time, this is stupid, I would rather pay a flat rate subscription fee or $20 a month for bundled content, and freedom of customization.

WoW is on subscription but their appearance changing ticket is also in the cash shop.   Same for any new MMO that has a subscription and cash shop (which is all of them).  You can also get a cosmetic ticket as a reward from doing an instance in game, as well as just buying it on the auction house for in game kinah.

Uh, Aion is actually the most unrestrictive F2P game out on the market.   There is literally nothing locked to a free player, compared to other F2P MMOs like LOTRO, SWTOR, etc where they actually restrict free players.  Almost everything useful on the cash shop can be bought in the auction house as they can all be sold to other players.

I played Aion the day it first came out and played in the Beta, the original reason I quit Aion in the first place was because of plastic surgery tickets rather than giving me unlimited customization for my monthly subscription they limit me so I quit.

Good luck finding a MMO that gives you unlimited cosmetic change for free.    Kingdoms of Amalur is a single player game, you're not going to get that kind of freedom in an MMO.

but compared to what I saw when I first played Aion over 8 servers all full Aion has like 4 servers or something none of them were full all low population at least the time I logged on but that doesn't matter its a MMORPG and MMORPG should have over 1000+ Players active at all times.

Aion is actually pretty populated right now.    On Siel the sieges routinely have 1500+ players (700-800 from each side) battling over fortresses at the same time on the same map.  You'll be hard pressed to find any other MMO with that kind of mass battle out right now aside from EVE.

Hopefully they will improve, But I doubt it and honestly even today's games like ESO, are turning me away from their games already, and only games I feel are worth playing based on videos on their site showing game play.

Aion is a pretty dated game, but most of your complaints are either non-issues or things that every single F2P or even sub-based MMOs have nowadays.

Lot of solid stuff in this thread that should give anyone thinking about trying Aion a good idea about the current state of the game.

Cool, man. =) I often think about returning to play more. I always thought it was a cool game. I'm mostly just sick of the tab-target combat system.

I just got the game 2 days ago and I'm really enjoying it. I love flying! I really wish it was a subscription based game instead of F2P but oh well.

I'm playing until ESO is released. Who knows, I might continue to play Aion afterward too. I really dig the classes plus how friendly people are. They have updated and added a new class recently, so NC Soft are still behind the game

I play Aion - only now and than and for free - with two female characters: an elysian templar and an asmodian cleric (both around level 25).  I play mostly RIFT and Everquest II, but I would rank Aion right there as No. 3 together with Tera. Aion's world is truly beautiful and I would call it a ladies game. I can solo it in piece and quiet, do gathering and crafting and enjoy building items for my appartement;-) My characters look gorgeous but are decently dressed.

I like this game and it is permanently installed on my notebook.
