So - you've been let down because you've made your OWN expectation of what an MMORPG should be based around... something imaginary.
Now you come back to bash anyone and everyone that is happy about a future title - because you wanted to escape reality. And now your marijuana isn't effecting you the same way it use to when you were 16 and your video games aren't taking you to the same fantasy land they did when you were young.
You're adults now. Reality is reality. You can't escape it unless you kill yourself and there is still a mystery as to what happens then with reality.
Everquest was a game-changer. It laid the foundation for every succesful themepark MMO since 99'. It's still alive and expansions are being released.
EQ2 was also a solid game. And it's still going. Expansions still being released.
Planetside was revolutionary in terms of FPS/MMO hybrid at release.
DCUO is the best BY FAR of the superhero MMOs.
Vanguard went to hell and sony picked up the pieces, JUST FOR THE NICHE, and made it whole and a great game. They knew it wasn't going to land billions of buyers. They did it for the niche fans.
SWG - need i say more? there is a huge dispute between whether soe was the one who messed it up - but they also made the game you all came to love as the best sandbox ever.
So with all that being said - how on earth is SoE going to fail EQNEXT?
They've never failed at launch. Every game they have is succesful and still going strong (as far as AAA titles).
It may not be a new species. But it's going to be succesful.
It's funny how butthurt you all are because you can't see what's behind the curtain. It's called patience. It's less than a month I think now?
Smedley's just playing with your emotions. hahah.
Exactly.
Some people are just that way though. Naturally pessimistic. They get some sort of rise out of finding some excuse to say something negative or nit picking something. They get a great game, but anything they say about the game will be nit picking what they think is "broken" or "not fun".
The game could have 1000's of things they really like, but they'll rush to the forums to talk about the 1 thing that makes them sad. They can never find any joy in something.
Originally posted by Vidir I just hope they are not spending too much manpower in the pvp part of the game.
I just hope they aren' not spending too much manpower in the non competitive, casual play, PvE part of the game, there a tons of crap PvE MMOs available for that crowd. :P
Its funny how factions of the MMO genre, including myself, are trying to convince themselves that EQN will cater to their niche playstyle. I guess that is what happens when you bad MMO products being made and a new AAA game with such little definitive info about what kinda of game it will be.
Hopefully he's saying you'll be a happy man because of the world PVP. Don't want any of this PVP server nonsense... it becomes an afterthought instead of an integral pillar of the sandbox.

Well he kept his promise on one of those two.
No power for sale in the EQ/EQ2 shops, unless something got added recently that Im unaware of
