Well, you shouldn't really get offended. WoW /is/ pretty mainstream and easy to get into for MMORPG newbies, more so then other MMORPG's... but ofcourse hard to master. I left it myself to get a more complicated MMORPG with a better community, such as EVE or Roma Victor in the future, but there's nothing wrong with a game being easy to get into for those new to the genre.

I thought Blizzard's "motto" official or not, was supposed to be "Easy to learn, hard to master". I think that was made clear during the marketing of WC3 if not sooner, right?
Anyway, saying it's easy to get a handle on is not an insult anyway. Trying to claim it has no finish, no end game, that would be a criticism. But even then you'd have to qualify what you were looking for that it didn't offer, because you have to realize not everyone wants the same thing in a game.
Not quite sure myself, only played through to about 35, so I can't really speak for endgame. As far as the early game though, I will say it was easy to get the hang of and not painful to progress, so I think they've done a good job at least on the first part. They do an outstanding job of introducing you to everything from the getgo. I can't think of another game that has done a better job of it, to tell the truth. A few have introduced you WELL enough, but few have done it as efficiently I think.

nobody here was discussing the fact that WoW is "easy"to get in or level up.
The discussion here is for the fact WoW is easy to get into and level, some people consider WoW players "newbies" just for the fact they are playing it.
I don't see the difference if you are playing EQ or WoW. They are both games and both game's population should be treated with the respect they deserve. I do not consider one person a better player because he plays game X instead of Y. That is what all this is about. Nothing to do with how the game is at all.

sorry, your second and third quotes in your original point made me talk about that . your first quote is what you were talking about, and shouldnt have had the other two in there. but anways, i totally agree that elite players also play WoW. I dont know why leet players think WoW is not for them, other than the fact thats its super easy.
i think the reason is that people now a days expect mmorpgs to be hard, so when this came out and it was easy and fun to get into, it threw people off.

Volkmar I agree with you 100%. If you look in the ratings on this website, WoW was once rated 8.8, now its 7.9 ever since Guild Wars came out. Coincidence? I think not. I have played Guild Wars and I didnt think too much of it. It lacks the fun and excitement of WoW. Guild Wars is a WoW wannabe. People are comparing WoW to the fact Guild Wars is free. I am sorry, but since Guild Wars is free WoW cant compete with that. Though WoW crushes Guild Wars on content, and thats all that matters.
If you look at the comments made on WoW in the reviews, a lot of them put down WoW. The game is not for beginners. It took me 4 months to get to lvl 60, and I still havent stopped playing him (I hit lvl 60 about a month ago). I am still working up my Honour Kills (which has been the best update Blizzard has made), and I am still working in raid instances for my class set.
The customer service could be better, but it still isnt horrible. I've had questions answered easily and have had help easily within the game from GMs.
You people just put down WoW because you dont like the style, but most people do. You try to get all the bad things out of the game, then announce it to the whole world.
WoW has the most subscirbers (yes some of them are young). Coincidence? Obviously people try to play a game that is most fun, which -- in the end -- is always WoW
