I am looking for a nice gaming Keypad. I don't think I want a keyboard with the keypad attached.
Thanks in advance.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I have been using a Fang keypad (made by the company now known as Steelseries - link) for years and I have not been able to find a replacement that I would be happy with. The movement keys are large. The other keys are spaced far enough apart that I don't press multiple buttons most of the time. I have easy access to 20 buttons (not including WASD) for controlling a game. Most other keypads don't seem to place enough keys within reach to be good for MMO gaming, and they often fail to deviate from a traditional keyboard button layout.
I have not used any of the below keyboards. My opinions are based on observations only. If someone who has used them likes them, please let us know how it compares.
I couldn't care for the Nostromo keypads (link), but maybe you will like them. They didn't really innovate the key layout for gaming, and you only have ten keys within reach of your four movement keys. Maybe the buttons on the side and the directional thingy make it better than I give it credit for, but I honestly think the thing is only successful because of marketing--not because it is a superior product.
The closest I can find to a Fang which is still for sale is the Cyber Snipa (link). The only problem I see with it is the number keys are too close together. If they had staggered them like the Fang does, it might have been my next purchase.
The one I'm considering buying after researching key pads is made in South Korea, and as far as I can tell, can only be purchased on ebay unless you can read Korean. It is called a PK7 and is made by SPL Game. Without an English support web site, I'm afraid to buy it and not be able to install drivers if it needs them. If it has programmable keys, the software for programming the keys is probably not available in English. Here is a link to the ebay page: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ergonomic-FPS-MMORPG-Gaming-Keyboard-Pad-SPL-PK7-Black-Backlit-USB-Wired-Game-/200762008993?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2ebe5925a1
I sent steelseries an email requesting they bring back the Fang. From what I can tell is one of the best gamepads out there.
It never hurts to ask.
