I really hope that they bring back the old type of levitation that had to have bat wings and was very limited. Levi was so limited that even with levi on it made it very hard to jump from one spot to the other unless you looked up and timed it just right. Then only certain classes can cast it and some items were very sort after by the classes that couldn't cast it.
Inviability and how hard it used to be to get the good form of invis and how even that would wear of at the worst time. Also invis to undead should be different to invis.
What feature of the old EQ would you like to see in EQN ?

By "hardcore" you mean going afk and getting a coffee in the meantime right? Or pressing a button over and over to raise a skill level, or any of the other mindless shit we had to do in order to progress? You already need a good netflix queue to handle most "modern" games, let's not make the content any more mind-numbing than it has to be.
It was the community that made eq1 great, not waiting 15min. for your mana to come back.
I like the new med system eq has. Out of combat regen

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
As in EQ1. The community became great because of the players plus the downtime. We removed the downtimes since eq1, how are the new communities?

Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
Roofs. Seriously. EQ dungeons were so great and immersive, and I hope they stick with that formula for the new ones. It actually felt like you were in a dungeon. None of that WoW style 3rd-person crap where it feels like you are outdoors when you aren't.
And on the dungeon note: Secret walls and hidden chambers and whatever other cool exploration discoveries can be snuck in.
Downtime had nothing to do with forming a community.. Group centric content that revolved around killing instead of questing had more to do with it.
