Completely agree, I like the way EQ2 handles it. Actually back playing EQ2 on Nagafen now while I wait for EQN. If you want to be able to attack anyone, you have to become exile, but you lose the amenities that cities offer. While good / evil offers you the support of a faction, but means that you cannot attack whoever you want.

I have read that in EQN will be factions and that will be very important in the game...like you, i hope that will be based on race alligment.
The only thing that i dont like in EQ is that good and evil races can group together, so i hope that in EQN will not possible.
Well if they follow EQ2 style you will be able to betray your current faction by a long questline. I think that is reasonable if you want to prove that you are a kind hearted troll.

Yes it could be reasonable, but i prefer a strict distiction between good and evil, so if you re evil you have to group only with evil races without exceptions.
I m courious about Iksar (if the race will be playable in EQN), in EQ they are KOS even by other evil races.

I see where you are coming from, but immutable alliances have always irked me. It shouldn't be easy to turn your back on your racial alliances, but it shouldn't be impossible either.

Yes i understand your point of view, is just a matter of tastes. The point for me is that i really dont want to see a troll that can do, for example, a paladin, just because he have changed his faction.

For a full PvP world 3 factions is the bare minimum, i would love to see player made factions that can build their own empire, and NPC factions that meddle in the PLayers war.
Anyway, your players faction could choose to align with the 7 or so NPC fáctions or stay away or be forced away from them based on the players ingame actions.

That would be kinda cool, either let people align completely to a player guild (which groups you up with any class / race and lets you choose alignments), or you can join a NPC faction.
As to troll Paladins, that doesn't really bother me if they have chosen to forsake their racial deity and pursue an honourable path, but I would like to see some class / deity limitations. Templars and Paladins should be limited to worshipping Rodcet Nife or the Marr twins for example. Druids with Tunare or Karana. And deity choice should be more meaningful that 'which blessing / miracle does the most damage'.
If you're going to have PVP in any form, 3 factions is the way to go. I've never been a fan of strict black and white, good and evil. There is always grey!
Edit: As far as grouping with the other faction, I will abstain. While it is reasonable to say you can't group with the other side, it causes problems. I have a friend that gravitates to Good, maybe even Neutral (unlikely though), but "refuses" to play Evil. For me, I have no preference, I'll play what has the best story, or the race/class I want, even if I'm an Evil SOB or the "hearts and rainbows" paragon of Good. With a strict segregation, that means I can't group with him, and I'm pretty sure other people may have similar problems.

I can guarantee that won't be the case. They tried it in EQ1 and most people hated it. They tried it in WoW and everyone got tired of it. There is absolutely no reason to divide the community in half like that. Who gives a shit if a high elf and dark elf want to group together.
If they have multiple servers and rules, this could be an option but I hope it isn't the default. It's been done so many times before and rarely successful. Especially with it being a sandbox, I would rather not have some hard coded restriction on who I can group with or fight against. Lore wise it makes sense, but gameplay wise it usually doesn't.
I was a huge fan of the Exile thing in Eq2 having played on Nagy... Cause really was there another server to play PvP??.. Plus people who did role-play had a back story as to why their Iksar was living in Qey... The Exile quest wasn't really that bad.. but it was long.. But the PvP was great because of this... and Contested Mobs...... Ohh I loved crumbling a raid taking on a Contested Epic!!!! We had quite some of the most EPIC times on Nagy... IMO Eq2 had one of the best PvP systems MMO's had to offer... Keep your money in the Bank or lose it lol.. HUNTING BOTS!!! the original Rank system really had the whole server crazed.. Beating that Overseer or Becoming a General for the first time.. AND LOCKED Tier PvP!!!! I really do hope the PvP server is Epic!!!
Betraying your faction sounds cool, but things could get pretty confusing for open world PvP. Maybe have that available in PvE servers?
How does that make things confusing for open world PVP? When pvping I don't check out what race you are, or how pretty your toon looks. I simply follow red=dead.

The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)
