I love your optimism, that's the spirit.

I think it would be cool if they just drop Beta/Alpha codes on the SOE attendee's. Be a nice touch. Not that I'm  going, but they have made comments that they are much further along than people think

Well many (myself included) think they will be giving away beta keys at SOE live.

Not sure about launching the game, but it is F2P - so I guess they could do whatever they want.

Well, that would certainly destroy their chances of a successful launch since no one would know about.  Worst marketing ever :p

That would be great, however without some type of alpha/beta I would predict absolute fail.  The have their vision, but they need the feedback from players to make a game that will profit and last longterm.

I honestly expect a brief "closed" Beta for the attendees, followed by a lot of hype from Smedley, then a November release.

    Raquelis in various games
    Played: Everything
    Playing: Nioh 2, Civ6
    Wants: The World
Anticipating: Everquest Next Crowfall, Pantheon, Elden Ring

Tank - Healer - Support: The REAL Trinity

I'm not accusing anyone of anything but all of these really new accounts overhyping EQN and doing nothing else are a tad suspicious.

All the overhype is ultimately bad for SOE ... show, don't tell. We'll either be not-disappointed, or amazed. Overhype means we'll almost certainly be disappointed, or EQN is the best MMO the universe will ever know and we'll be merely satisfied.

I do wonder if their goal is to try and time EQN release relatively close to the PS4 launch.  It would be a large boon to the PS4 to have MMOs up and ready to go around their console release, after all.

I don't know if PS4 has announced a date yet, but Xbox was claiming November.  So, theoretically, PS4 will be somewhere around November/December, most likely, as well.

In my opinion no they don't.

Changing your game to appease everyone is the fastest road to ruin.

It would have great shock factor but all the attendees at SOE LIve might be libel to leave and play or really upset that they are away from home. Also I need time to get my website and guild set up and ready AFTER I decide if I am even going to do EQNext.

This would be a poor decision.

Beta would rock tho. That is what I expect.

Not really.  Many probably have a main account and don't want it targeted while they do some white knighting.  The haterade patrol does the same thing.

Although it's highly unlikely, they could have already BETA tested it internally, or externally in complete secrecy. Who knows?

Just imagine the shock waves it would send if you could play the game right after reveal!

They might as well just skip the beta process considering how much they've listened to beta tester feedback on previous games. :P

I think SOE has massive rooms of computers for people to play their games on.  Not saying that I think the game will launch August 2nd, just making a point.

I think SOE attendees regardless will get a chance to play the game in whatever form it's currently in.

Yes I understand that they will have computers there and that people may take their laptops that is a far cry from being at home having taken vacation time planned to eat take out or delivery planned babysitters planned a week of grinding let alone being distracted by two more days of SOE Live.

It is obvious that they are not going live and has been hinted at a beta, the descriptions of the panels over the 4 days of the event shows that they are simply revealing the game the 2nd. Why talk about the game if you released it? Even if they do so the last day, on Sunday do you really think that the developers want to be in Vegas, they need to be in California watching over things.

    It isnt gonna happen.

Thats exactly what I was going to say.

Everyone would cheer, then run to their cars or back to the airport and all the SOE employees would be standing around looking at each other.

I do think they will go into beta shortly after SOE live is done.

Now that somebody mentioned it...it could actually make allot of sense to launch the PS4 and EQN at the same time and have EQN pre-installed on machines... that would give the PS4 a killer app at launch prior to the main wave of christmas releases from major publishers.

...but still Everquest! Frogloks in spaceships! Norrath in pieces! Freeport is a giant space station! The game is now an MMOFPS!

They did say they were using the Planetside2 engine...

Nothing says Trolling like an actual legion of Trolls pod-dropping into your guild's Space Castle.
