    Hi Paul

On the most recent episode of the shoddy cast, the guest, Jesse Cox, was explaining how an alpha build of the game he played felt very much like an elder scrolls game, the build at PAX felt much more like an mmo (which Jesse was upset about) and now in beta he says its been starting to feel like an Elder Scrolls game again. Can you explain how the development has changed over these builds and has caused him to say this?

    My question:

We've been hearing a lot about Cyrodiil and how the conflict derives from that province, but will the war spread to other provinces such as Skyrim, High Rock, and Valenwood? Or will it just be a dive for the middle?

Sorry for any spelling mistake. Greetz from Germany :)

We do not have anything like that currently in game. We've looked into this, and we have some ideas, but I don't believe it will be in for ship.

Thanks for answering my question. Keep up the good work Bro (:

Oh, also, another guy on the official forums has asked where the Kwama Foragers are? They weren't mentioned in the recent "making of ESO" vid.

    Hi Paul,

One of the things that make MMOs great (to me) is being able to find an epic piece gear, or a new rare mount, and brag about it to your friends.

Is ESO going to have some awesome, hard to acquire items that will give the player that great sense of achievement?

Currently you are able to trade in two very important ways:

    1. Meeting someone and doing the normal, "Hey, let's swap items."
    2. You will be able to trade in your Guild Store. This is a really big thing for us, and part of the reason we allow people to join multiple guilds. We think this is pretty exciting and we'll have more details on the full system later.

Can you shed a little light on how werewolves work for the player? Will there be any lunar shifts, hostility from NPCs or players, will the beast form work simular to the previous single player games as like a greater power?

Looking forward to the game! Take your time.

Regarding pet classes and conjuration. Will they both be implemented? Will we be able to run around with 1+ Atronachs and/or other kinds of pets?

So many questions... I doubt I'll get a second one answered, but here it goes anyway...

I've been playing the franchise since way back in the days of Arena. One feature that the games have always had that were "cutting edge" was the emphasis on NPCs having simulated lives with daily cycles, schedules and sometimes, even travel to other cities. Now it seems other MMOs in development, especially one that begins with the letter E and ends in Next are trying to take that to a new level.

Are there plans in ESO to give NPCs even more of an independent life than what we have seen in the past?

Thanks for doing this Paul! And nice name by the way (it's mine too)

All dueling an PvP activity currently takes place in Cyrodiil. We don't have an arena for it in the PvE areas.

We try to make sure you can leave pretty quickly if you would like, but you will likely have to do some things to get out of starter areas.

    Hey, Paul.

I was wondering if there would be player housing at launch or in a later update? One of my favorite parts of Skyrim was exploring to find cool items to display in my home.

My name is Paul Sage, and I'm the Creative Director for Elder Scrolls Online. I will be doing my best to answer your questions about Elder Scrolls Online. I won't be able to answer questions about the business model or the exact release date of the game. I just wanted to throw that out there so no one is upset if I don't answer that question. I'm also not the world's fastest typist, so my answers may be shorter so I can get to more questions.

Enough caveats! I'm glad to be here, and I'd like to thank the MMORPG group and they're community for inviting me. Let's get this thing rolling.

    Hey there Paul!

I personally loved how in Skyrim all of the things you did had a positive or negative benefit on your game play experience.  More specifically, I loved how adopting children and taking on a husband or wife was NOT just a cosmetic application so to speak, there were actual benefits to it such as your spouse starting a business and giving you your cut of the proceeds from time to time.  Then in the case of the children they might help you out by giving you items or money that they find.

So my question sir is, will we be able to adopt kids in ESO?  And will will be able to marry either NPC spouses or actual other players?  Thanks for your time! :D

So, if I one day feel bored and get the crazy idea to run from coast to coast (yea, Forrest Gump) in Tamriel, example from  Winterhold (Skyrim) to Southpoint (Valenwood). How many hours will that take?

    Last question I promise ;)

    - ESO On Consoles -

Internet services cost about $30 - $50, ESO The Game will presumably be $60, PS4 & XB1 require Montly Subscriptions to play online (PS+ and XBL Gold $50-60 /mo).

For CONSOLE ESO PLAYERS what could possibly justify us having to pay an addition Monthly Subcription for ESO the game itself on top of PS+ and XBL Gold.

    Thank You.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Why aren't you guys reconsidering cross platform play. We all know that consoles are becoming more PC like and every console allows a keyboard and mouse and every pc allows for a game controller. Knowing that successful online games are population dependent, especially after 3-6 months, why not allow for the maximum population while preventing splits of guilds and friends, not to mention family members by forcing them to be segregated among platforms?

Adding onto southerns question can you also tell us a bit about vampires is there gonna be sun damage or any of the passive buffs/debuffs that are in the single player games?
  • EliteZEliteZ Member CommonPosts: 1
    Hi Paul,
I have two questions that I hope you will be able to answer.

First off, how are passive skills going to work? I assume that there is going to be a lot of passive skills in the game so will we have to select certain ones twe want to use or will it work as you use every passive skill that youve unlocked at all times?

My second question is about dungeons and adventure zones. I'm sure that many of us have played Guild wars 2 where they advertised their dungeons and world bosseds and events to be these amazi challenging content yet turned out to be simple zerg fights with no tactics. Will ESO be the same with dugeons and adventure zones or will there be challenging content with tactics and challenging machanics for mobs and bosses for players that enjoy that slightly more hardcore challenging content?

Thanks in advance if my questions get answered and I'm really looking forward to playing the game myself.

I dont want to be forced to wear pieces of clothing I dont want, I want to wear custom outits of my choosing.

2.Will clothing be like skyrim where an armor set is created for your whole body or will the clothing be seperate for each body part.

The former is too restricting and hinders character customization immensely

    Thank you

Right now, we do have costumes in the game and disguises which can be worn over your gear to give you a different look. We also have options for you to take gear you like (stats) and make it look different.

    My question will be:

Will there be world pvp and how will it work?

    Thank you!

Hi Paul Thanks for taking the time to visit with us I am curious will there be any special gear or loot that those who are fortunate enough to do the CBT will get as a reward to carry over when it is live?

    Thanks :)

    Hello, Mr. Sage

From one of the many E3 interviews I found out that you can have First and Second name. My question is this:

Will the first and / or second name be unique? Can there be for example 2 players with the same first name if their second name is different?

Also I have a question about mounts:

Will players keep their horses "in their pockets" like in many MMOs or will horses be kept in stables / follow player around like in single player TES games?

Thank you very much for your time.

    My question is..

Is healing in TESO limited to two paths?

You have stated that the 4 classes are just templates and starting point as there are loads of skill trees to follow and shape a character to fit our playing styles. However as a healer, as far as the information has been released, are there only 2 Healing skill paths at launch, The Templars healing path, and the Restoration Staff path. Is this not a very limited choice for healers? Either being forced to pick a Templar, or only having the option of one weapon, the Restoration Staff.

Will there be any other healing paths that have not been unannonced?

Will the Restoration Staff have different attunments, like the Destruction Staff having Fire, Lightning and Frost?

As it currently stands, if I was to play either a Sorcerer, Nightblade or Dragon Knight, is the only option I have to be a viable group healer, the Restoration Staff path?

    Thanks

Well, there are two full 'healing' paths, that aren't just healing, but that is their focus. Also, most "healing" classes usually have other skills or abilities. For us, you can determine what those are. I think the openness of the skill system really will allow you to play a very versatile healer.

How will boats be used? There was a picture of a sea monster attacking a boat. Will boats be required to travel from island to island or place to place?

    Thanks!
