Originally posted by Masterfuzzfuzz I'd have to go with GW2. It was so promising but the lack of skills, mixing classes, no rewards after level 80, and pseudo action combat really wasn't what I thought it was gonna be. No sub so worth the purchase but it felt very average.
Basically this. Though what truly destroyed the game for me above anything else was their attempt at "fixing" the Holy Trinity. I always looked at GW2 as a 5AM infomercial where they invented a problem that didn't exist, and then fixed it. The Holy Trinity was one of these situations. They convinced all of us it was a serious problem and then suddenly everyone started agreeing it was. Next thing you know their "solution" was (If you were playing hardcore.) literally you running the game with all glass cannons and MAYBE a support. We went from 3 unique roles, with loads of different ways to achieve them, to 1 role with 3 or 4 ways to achieve it. Don't even get me started on them removing raids...
lol you know games used to be different all the time, its healthy. Im sick to death of trinity, i can play great trinity games if I want, I dont need another one. GW2 offers something different - i.e diversity is good for us consumers.
worst dissapointment - wow cata/conan early release.

How is it diversity to limit your options? Is diversity really defined as "You can do damage, or you can do damage"? I certainly hope not.
GW2 , had high hopes for a completly buy to play game that was fun, instead I got a beautiful yet boring game littered with microtransactions. Uggghhh!!!!

You still haven't addressed how it is you believe that taking 3 options and limiting them to one is in anyway better. I know a lot of pissed off Tanks and Healers who would just LOVE to hear how this game is actually better for forcing us to play as dps.
It made the most obvious of rookie mistakes it was sickening. It was honestly like they didn't do one second of homework on the history of MMOs and obvious mistakes that had been made in the past.
Indeed...
It's sad. They had a lot of great talent... they had a crazy amount of money... they had the opportunity to make something truly special but the decision makers failed horribly.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
I am fairly new to MMO games but SWTOR was a HUGE disappointment. I got into the games just to practice up for SWTOR. If that is how WoW is, no wonder I never played it.
The stories were cool but the game itself was just boring in the end. I couldn't justify paying to play it.
And now their F2P model is the biggest joke.... That is how you DON'T do F2P!

You know, i am going to agree, *and* disagree with you.
I don't like TOR, and also not the way their F2P system works. So i don't play TOR. In that sense, i agree with you.
However, if you actually look at their business, their sub stablizes at Eve levels, add many more free players, and making money off the cash shop. In fact, if you read EA's latest financial statement, they claim TOR has growth.
So from a business point of view, the F2P conversion is a success and save the game.

Lol, they claim growth while they are now having Aeria Games pushing it. I don't believe anything EA claims to be honest. EA is one of the big three "Hives of Scum and Villainy" (EA, Activision, Ubisoft) in video games.
Age of Conan, so much hype but ended up being terrible delivery upon release. I wish I have never allowed my friends to influence me on purchasing that game. We all ended up leaving after the third week tired of what the game actually was compared to what it actually promised.
Tabula Rasa, Rift, Aion are another few that never kept my interest as well.

UO beta - horrible ganking
EvE 21 day trial - very boring PvE missions and early game

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

I don't know if it can be called growth when you have to rely on Aeria to help push your game. Looks like a desperate move to get people to me.
So, while I see your point I am going to guess that EA is not giving accurate statistics.
