Current rating of WoW and state of the game...

Well, ill start off by saying ive been playing this game since launch, i have a 50 rogue, 44 warrior and 38 mage mage now with various other characters, so ive been around long enough. review as follows:

Graphics (7/10)- they are ok. the half cartoony look is nice and the environement is pretty. i docked the score 3 points because character customization is hardly something worth mentioning. This is probably because i played SWG where your character would littlerally never look like someone elses. my mage, for example, looks identical to at least 10 other people ive randomly come by. the fact that blizzard has no plans to fix this makes it worse.

Sound (9/10)- great. i docked it one point because all the mobs sound the same. IE. every orc sounds like every orc, every murloc sounds like every murloc, etc... a little change would be nice, but soundtrack is great.

RP Value (3/10) - terrible. the RP servers are PvE only despite constant requests from RP'ers to have PvP servers. furthermore, those who try to RP on normal servers are very frequently chastized.

Value (5/10)- i gave it a 5 because i hate the game just as much as i love it recently.

Fun (4/10)- docked 6 points because the honor system detroyed 60% of my gameplay. while pvp is great, the honor system has turned every pvp server into a monstrous gank fest. it has become nearly impossible to quest in every contested zone as you will be ganked every time you engage an npc mob. furthermore, pvp in general has turned into monstrous zerg fests. there are no castle sieges, no forts, no outposts. PvP rewards are decent at best. the lack of any sustained rewards (IE having your guilds name on a castle) leads to a sense of fruitlessness for pvp. Ranks under the honor system are designed to benefit only hard core players, as are the rewards.

Community (3/10)- worst MMO community ever. almost no one helps with any quest unless they need it too. small guilds are completely worthless as the end-game structure is build to encourage large guilds. Also- small reward drops further encourage this out of fear of ninja lootings - for example, a raid boss that takes 40 people to kill will only drop 4 or 5 items, reports of people ninja'ing all the raid items happens very regularly. I give this a 3 because the only redeeming factor is the guild structure, which is well build, tabards are nice and people are generally friendly to one another.

P/Lag (6/10)- depends on play time. Since the honor system it has been horendous in many pvp zones. prime tima play in roughly 30% of zones results in terrible lag, even on low pop servers. I play on a low pop server so i can only speculate that high pop servers are lagging everywhere in prime time hours and weekends.

CS (0/10)- worse than sony. took me three days to get a GM response to a missing item and another 2 to get an email from the retrieval department. by the time i got the item back i had out leveled it. CM's on their message boards (all 10 of them) often have no answers for anyone. The community routinely has threads asking them to be fired on the main forums. Class forums are largely ignored. since launch there has only been 3 patches, to put this in contrast - EQ2 released the same day has had over 70, including an expansion zone.

All in all the game is ok at best. in all honesty im about to cancel my account because of the poor CS, but also because the honor system has destroyed the game. it is litterally impossible to quest or grind anymore. for anyone who disputes any of my criticism look on the wow forums. you can say these complaints are from "whiners" but they are really from anyone but the "fanboi's". so take them for what they are worth, but they are accurate.  so if you are looking for a new mmo, be warned

it seems your 2 biggest problems with WoW are: 1)lack of character customization and 2) honor system. i will leave the CS alone as it is not part of the game itself.

Here is my rebuttal to both.

    1) Character customization for body/face is surely inferior to SWG. but then, honestly, how many time did you stopped to examine how a certain guy was "made" when you can barely see the hairs, let alone the conformity of the face or the eyes. What is MUCH more distinguishing in characters, even in SWG, is how they are clothed. What armor they wear (heck! the top armor of SWG covers you entirely, only thing you see is the armor... there goes hours of character customizations), what clothes they have and so on.

WoW is no different. And in that department you will have to admit it is incredibly varied. Armor sets are as colorful and as beautiful as they come (they can even give you red evil eyes or the like). Weapons also looks all quite kicka$$.

    2) let's stay in SWG argument also. SWG had a similar PvP system than wow (practically identical but the ranking ladder) since birth. actually it is even worse cause you get points even from killing NPCs. Do you see seas of people roaming like ravaged fanatics there? no you don't. guess why? cause it is not new. it wasn't introduced in half of the game.

The situation is calming down as we speak, friend. Yes, go to the forums and see for yourself as you seems to like that form of communication yourself. let another week or so pass and situation will be back to normality or so.

    3) About the RP servers, that is not a news. True, some Rpers wants a RP PvP server (cause it makes sense) but Blizzard simply followed Industry standard where a RP server (go look EQ or DaoC if you don't believe me) is a PvE server. So as a result, all mmorpgs should get 3/10 on RP? i do not believe so.

RP should be a value not on what kind of RP there is in the game, as that is completely dependant on community and not on the game itself, but what tools the games gives to it. in WoW you can lay on beds or sit in chairs for example, things that RPers like myself feels good. you can say voice emotes that kind of add to the charm of it and in general you have some options for it.

It doesn't have the most moves nor options, i agree on that, but it is far from a 3/10 for me.

    Have a nice day

    I'd give it a 7.

It lacks the in-game community feel I really enjoyed in EQ2. (Sidenote: EQ2 gets a 4.)

SWG PvP works via voluntary pvp flags unless declared as an outright faction, that is completely different than the PvP rules on a pvp server in WoW.  So you are entirelly 100% wrong to try to prove me wrong.  also, you get honorable kills in WoW for killing anything green con and higher.  to a lv. 60 character that includes lv. 48 mobs or player characters.  And to answer your question - yes i do see seas of roaming horde running around like fanatics, like the 40+ that went and wiped out every npc in Nijels point in desolace last night, or the nearly mandatory 100+ pummelling SS everyday.  the situation may be calming down on your carebear pve server where you have SWG "flags" that let you get out of the combat but on pvp its a mess.  Also - you may want to refer to Kalgans own post where he explicitly says in no uncertain terms that he plans the honor system to keep the servers a mess until the release of battlegrounds, which they wont release a time table for.

Also- your comments about customization are entirely skewed.  sure some of the weapons look nice, but in all honesty there isnt any diversity at lv. 60.  how many warriors/hunters have a Blackhand Doomsaw on your server?  on mine nearly everyone has one.  Also - nearly every lv. 60 essentially goes through upper level instances over and over again to consolidate the server down 6 different suits of armor, the "class" armor.  really the only people who arent running around in these 6 different sets either

    1) dont have them yet but are trying to get them

    2) are extremely lucky enough to have gotten the random sets that drop out of Scholomance

or 3) lucky enough to have gotten purple drops that are better.

the last 2 of those points happen maybe 1% of the time.

Finally - you cant discount CS out of a score to rate an MMO.  if blizzard handled their billing like they handle their community relations they wouldnt have collected a dime yet.  the CM's and the GM's are every bit as important as the auction house or any other part of the game, so its just silly to say that doesnt count.

WoW gets a 9 for me. I'm in love with Warcraft and blizzard. I'm glad I've changed from PvP to PvE server though, PvP server isn't playable anymore with new honor system :::'(::
