Not much, same themepark, errand boy gameplay we have seen since the release of WOW. Innovative, hardly. Starting city split up into so many zones is a bit unattractive. If you like themeparks the game will probably hit home for you. If you like sandboxes this is not one unfortunately.

Nothing new that is XIV in a nut shell, and honestly it is not a negative.
No gimicks no self proclaimed genre defining elements.
Just a game that brings together everything people liked from other mmos under one roof, with a ton of content that is highly polished, a great story, freedom of playing any job at any time, and one of the most indept crafting/gathering systems out there.
If you want something that will "Revolutionize the genre" this is the wrong game. If you want a sandbox game this is not the right game, lot of choices of content but there is lack of choice within those.
Nothing and Thank God!
No broken promises, no failed experiments just good 'ole solid game
Thank you YoshiP
Nothing new... just a nice game thats a fun timepass so far.
I was actually surprised that i was kinda dissapointed erlier today when i found that the beta tests are on a hold, somehow i never read the beta forums and expected to get a few hours of betagameplay this weekend. Sadly i was wrong, seems phase 4 wont happen till somehwere in August.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Nope, nothing new.
It's almost "old school", and to me that's a welcome change.
Old school game, no gimmicks! I love it!
What's new?
The fact that it's a good game. It's truly good.
The crafting system is great which is rare these days. Crafting/gathering has its own stats that you can modify with gear. The act of crafting and gathering has its own set of abilities you can do to change the outcome. These abilities are connected to a resource system akin to using up mana.
While it is the same 'ole model that we've been doing since WOW, they've done a fine job at polishing up the turd they had in 1.0. If anything, the Job System and Crafting are the best things the game has to offer. The story isn't bad. While the combat isn't spectacular, it is better than it was.
If anything, the game is an adequate distraction until EQN, Wildstar, or ESO.
The biggest plus: It isn't WOW.

While similar, i enjoy the crafting (reminds me of eq2) and gathering system quite a bit. The job/class system is unique to me, but i realize a few other games have similar systems.
I am pretty sure they have said several times it was not going to be revolutionary. They wanted to just focus on fun. We are still on the fence on this one, but at least I feel they were honest about what the goal of this project was going to be.

Agree, nothing new. But hey! I love it!
We have been watching so many new MMO qithtons a new features, and they never are what what expected (not exactly all, but you know what i mean). So, a new game, with nothing new but for me, a lot of things well done, it's perfect.
I don't want WOW 2.0, a WOW like, the new nex mmo game. I just want a game that make me have fun.
It's really weird that in MMO all new games MUST be a next gen MMO or a revolution. But, First Person Shooter are always, more or less, the same. And i love those games. Strategic games like Age Of Empires or Starcraft are not revolutions by themselves, but they are really good. So, my question is, why can't we just have a good time qith a new and good game, instead of asking our selves where the next MMO game will come to our lifes?
Nice, I like this one.
