Hey all,
I've been playing other MMOs for a few days, just trying to get my fix of once the best online game i've played.
My question is: if someone with money that was willing to front up the cash could SWG be reopened? asking disney to reopen it? or lucus arts who owns the right these days?
I've done some online recon and i can find loads of old and new players that would come back to SWG (pre-CU) if it was set up again.
And how would i go about it to start this ball rolling?
Thank you all

OP - I recommend you remove the mention of what you have recently been playing or your post will be removed as you are not allowed to discuss that here. Just leave the rest of your post and I'll add a poll.
If Disney were to re-release SWG as it was pre-CU, would you play?
You may or may not have more luck with it, now that Disney owns LA. Maybe they would be more open to a smaller license fee for the old game, as some money is better than no money? Only problem is if they think it would still hurt to have SWG around and dig into their licensing money for TOR, or water the brand down if they took less cash.
Also, if you want the old SWG back, if you believe what they have said before, that code is 'lost' or something I think.
I voted no, only because I found Darkfall Unholy Wars after SWG got shut down.
..
Only if they released it as a viable mmo, with support, then they fixed the balance issues they still had to work on, and then promised to do future content in the pre-CU style.
I liked SWG, but I also know it had things that needed fixed, like buffs toned down, skills being balanced a little better, areas that were broken, and it needed some more content, so if they commited to this stuff, then sure, I would play.
I'm going to get some sort of email sorted and keep sending it to Disney until they listen to us lol.
I would play in a heartbeat.
Against the forum rules to mention this
But yes I would jump all over SWG relaunch. I was surprised as hell that they wouldn't make it F2P like the other games. Guess LA wanted everyone in TOR and to be honest that was a very lacking mmorpg.
SWG was one of the most indepth games full of content and I played from launch to 6 months before closing. If they relaunched though, I wonder if they could bring our old characters back. I had 11 characters ( 5 accounts x2 plus my elder jedi slot). Just haven't found a new aged mmo to keep me as occupied as SWG did.
I would pay to help this cause along.

Games Played: Too Many
After playing some pre-NGE/CU SWG not too long ago I can safely say no. SWG was a poor buggy game made great by the community and the sandbox nature. Today's MMO players don't play in the same way that 2003/4 players did, which leaves SWG with a solo-minded powerlevelling community and not the fun it once was.
Nostalgia is a deceptive thing.
Yes.
In a New York second.
I would once again be a Master Ranger and have a second account for my RIS certified 12 pt. Master Armorsmith.
HELL YEAH! I WANT SWG BACK!
SWTOR ISNT THE SAME!
I know a LOT of people that would often talk about how it was the best game ever made and would occasionally every year or two go back to it. But they never stayed longer than a few days/weeks.
I too went back once and thought I was having fun for about a month before I remembered why I quit playing it in the first place. There are those who never left, but those are very few. Much greater is the number of people who remember fondly a game to which they can never really return -- regardless if there is a server up or not.
The thing is with SWG, it was more the Community that made the game great. The Open World Sandbox style of the game facilitated this.
The game itself was a mess, but if you had a good guild (and good rivals), it kind of made it all ok.

Games Played: Too Many
SOE and Disney have entire armies of people devoted to figuring out how they can make more money.
They have very specific data on how many people they feel will buy their games, much more specific than i've seen in this thread i'll wager.
And as the other fellow pointed out, there may be legal reasons why they could not do it even if they wanted.
349.963 more players to go to at best grab an attention of Disney.
Good luck, OP.
