Alpha or Beta?

Hey all!

So I've read some news about EoN on mmo-play and I'm wondering now whether the game is in beta or alpha? Since, if I understood correctly, it has been announced only a few weeks ago that the game will be in alpha and now a few days ago that it is in beta? Somewhat confused here, so thanks for clarifying :)
