The night/day cycle is decent too in LOTRO, even if too bright for me. I'd love to see a game with really dark nights, where you have to use torches or lanterns. Hell, even Moria in LOTRO doesn't have any really dark parts.

I played LOTRO back in the open beta era, and I remember the world environments being quite beautiful.  I didn't play it long enough to get out and explore and experience the weather  through all the different areas like that, though.

To the darkness part, actually there was a bug maybe a year ago (already fixed) where after you ported out from Forochel the reduced visual from the snowstorms "stayed" with your character - meaning if you arrived to an area where it was nighttime, you barely saw further than your nose :) even in Bree with all the lights coming from the lampposts and through the windows, your view distance was maybe 20 feet... it was funny while it lasted.

However, I like the night sky in LotRO even if it's not too dark. Accurately done starmap, and the whole day/night cycle is great, I once stayed up the night with my hobbit over the Scary and screenshotted Valacirca moving over the sky... good ol' times. Not to mention watching sunrise if there are no clouds, awesome.

AoC has sime nice weather effects as well, but as others wrote, weather in mmo's is usually visuals only. "Wind blowing in your face and slowing your movement.", or any similar dynamic effects, it's highly unlikely. It would be fun though, jumping puzzles with a sudden random wind blowing you off... :)

On a second thought, AutoAssault had the movement affected - ok, just by terrain type and not weather itself, but still... if you went into a cold, snowy area with your average tyres, you could barely turn or brake :) And in STO's winter wonderland event, you can sliding / skating on ice, it's pretty funny especially during the fight with the snowman overlord.

I'll second this vote, I'm back playing again and it still handles weather as well as day and night better than most other games out there.
