I quit Guild Wars 2 last February/March, because simply got bored after being 80 for 1 month. Have there been any major changes or content added since then?
I am especially interested in PvP/WvWvW, by then PvP really didnt have any goals, you did it just for "fun". Its fun for some time but doesnt have any longevity.

The regular pvp sucks and is completely pointless. Grab a friend or 2 and do tournament runs with them. Planning and coming up with strategies makes it great fun.
WvW .. hmm never done much of that but they added traits for that. You won't instantly get them when you log in now but you will get 2 points instead of 1 for every rank you already got, when you level up now.
In order:
1. yes, WvW is fun, because I see long queues for WvW maps fridays and saturdays nights;
2. yes, no more culling in WvW;
3. yes, there are ranks and you can buy gear for WvW;
4. they changed sPvP for make it possible;
5. there are some tournaments happening (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-invitational-and-regional-qualifying-tournament-details/), but it will need time for see if GW2 get to be an E-sport.
WvW got some pretty substantial updates so far and sPvP is getting some tournaments and such.
PvE is getting updates every 2 weeks
"As you read these words, a release is seven days or less away or has just happened within the last seven days those are now the only two states youll find the world of Tyria."...Guild Wars 2
Maybe I am coming back someday.
ust realized even legendary weapon has same stats, all that grinding for just different weapons skin, No-progression just feels strange!
People didn't want progression. If you want to grind for 'Uber' weapons there are plenty of games out there for that - Rift, etc. This game was not supposed to be a grind. BTW, culling in PvE is going away Aug. 20th - this will be interesting.
People are whining there's no players in Lions Arch and that's because their computers suck. I have a pretty good PC and i see a lot of people in LA and a lot with just their names because i can't load all of them. Just around the Mystic Forge, Trading Post and bank i saw about 100 players.
And with culling being optional, if you go without culling and have a crappy computer it will either crash or get a very low fps.
About your questions, WvW is fun, there's Teamspeak you can join in and talk or just listen and new titles etc. SPvP is only fun if you do tournaments, there's no real progress there unless they do a moba-style map.
The more i play GW2, the better the game gets. It takes a long time to adapt to GW2, at least it did for me.
It just may not be the game for you then. It's really not about becoming more powerful, the end game in GW2 is what you make of it. It's different. I am a big fan of the game and even I took a month or two off after hitting 80, getting the look I wanted I kinda just lost motivation after that.
Then came back and I guess I just found new motivation? It's hard to explain, you just come to the conclusion that the game isn't about gear progression. I think the living story has helped out a lot. It gives you a reason to log on and check out all the new stuff and experience it.
A quick note on Legendary weapons... when ascended weapons are released Legendary weapons will be upgraded to have the same stats. In addition, legendary weapons will have the ability to change the stats when you're out of combat (say Berserker to Soldiers for example). So legendary will actually be worth it for that unique feature which makes them incredibly flexible.
Oderint, dum metuant.
