True story.
Took an hour to get out of Qeynos.
Saw a bunch of snakes, bats, and rats attacking the city.
Freaking out, I ran to help another player kill a rat.
The player sent me this tell: "If you PK me again I'll report you to a GM"
I had no idea what that meant but I knew the player was unhappy.

I think my first experience with EQ was the same as 99% of EQ players...
Step 1: Walk up to an NPC.
Step 2: Cluelessly hit the A button.
Step 3: Swing at NPC.
Step 4: Loading, please wait...
Logging in for the first time in EQ as a Wood Elf and falling to my death several times on a Dial-UP connection in the City of Kelethin Jan. 2000 then finally finding the Lifts and going down to the ground and getting killed by a Masiquoto.

I did pretty much like everybody else, I attacked my guild leader and he breathed on me and I died:) My brother sent me a tell and said he fell in a puddle and drowned haha.
Maybe because it was my first mmo but there was just something about trying to finish something up and getting somewhere safe as dark came. Then sunrise came and everything felt energized like it was a new day!
"Brute force not work? It because you not use enought of it"
-Karg, Ogryn Bone'ead.
I remember this vividly for some reason.
High Elf Wizard finally finding my way out of Felwithe. I look around and see people fighting wasps. So I walk over to one and start casting my spell. Died a few times, but learned that I had to time my casting in between the wasp's attacks so that I wouldn't be interrupted.
It was SO slow making any type of progress. But God it was worth it!
This one is for my dad who passed away 2 years ago.
He wanted to play EQ with me. So he created a half-elf ranger I think it was. Anyway, I was showing him around Surefall Glade and trying to teach him about how to play, and talk to NPC's and such.
As I went into a building that had a small bridge to get inside, I waited for him. He didn't show up. Then I heard splashing!
I immediately knew what happened, and realized he didn't know how to swim at all hahaha. I got up and ran back to his room (we lived together at the time) to try to save him, but he drowned.
It was a hilarious moment for the both of us. And one I'll never forget.
I recall being so nervous because I couldnt figure out who was an NPC and who was a player character and didnt talk to NPCs for quite some time until I got a clue.
Holly Windstalker. I had no idea why someone of my own faction would attack me. I thought she was nuts.
At around level 3 I followed someone into the wall beside Qeynos and kept following them. The mobs were on them for a while and I managed to sneak around a corner and hang out for a bit. I ended up getting turned around and ended up dying to a vagrant.
I have many noob stories. I was a noob for most of my EQ experience!
