Am I the only one who has noticed this game looks way too similar to Wild Star the graphics any way, as well as Blade and Soul from NCSoft by that I mean the whole "Wire Fu" stuff where they glide around also the combat system looks just like it.
why are there telegraphs??? why???? at least make them cool looking instead of generic little red boxes. make them cool looking like flaming rings of fire...or rumbling earth...not painted lazer red squares on the ground....
Originally posted by Scripture1 I guess I could search and find this out myself but out of laziness... lol... When is this game's release date?
Probably when the PS4 is ready to go.......I get teh feeling this is a total casual console gamer game that is not going to be anywhere near what people here think it is going to be...im sorry but Im not buying all this vague crap that SOE is throwing at us.
Well, so long anybody with a low or average computer/graphics card...
Sorry you where interested in the game before you saw what it was going to look like and use for fights.
The funny part is that any true Everquest fan could tell you the graphics really don't mean much. The ones they showed are lightyears beyond anything in their current set of games. We've grown quite used to mediocre graphics because Everquest tends to be all about the gameplay.
And the one time they did try to push video cards and systems with EQ2, they got taken to the woodshed and beaten into a decade-long submission by Blizzard.
This game will rise and fall on how interactive and easy to use the world is, the choices that you have in what you can do, and how well they update and outdate obsolete mechanics and systems so that grinds of years past vanish.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
The main people bellyaching about the graphics are the MMO tourists that simply like to see the sights before moving on.
I'm not saying the game is bad or anything, I haven't played it, and I'll give it a try. But just the "mage has teleport and warrior has leap" part of the debut presentation made me facepalm.
Don't know if any SOE reps are reading this thread or not but I have to say, if they actually manage to make what the article says manifest then I'm going to have to eat some nasty ass crow pie and sign my life away and just live in Norrath. I'm one of the original SOE haters, for many many many reasons...but this....if they manage to do this right, even a old hater like me will concede them their crown.
Mind you, I'm very skeptical SOE can pull it off, I've seen them faceplant in the mud so many times that they in many ways, IMO define incompetence. I'm already skeptical due to the standard mantra of including console markets with their host of limitations. Yes they are a greater market segment than PCs, I get that but any game company that says it will be the same game across different platforms is basically saying they're dumbing a game down to the lowest common denominator.
So, very skeptical however, they intrigued me enough that I'll give it a try, which just gave a dozen friends of mine a stroke

So...if I see a mountain can I just sit there all day/week/month/year hacking my way through it, effectively creating my own tunnel? Gameplay, crafting, appearance and all that are well and good but I'm far more interested in the persistent world.
Can I drill my way to China? I think I know the answer but when they say "everything" can be destroyed I honestly doubt they mean everything...

SOE said player structures will have the option to be indestructible
I assume that will apply to other structures in game too
for drilling, SOE said there will be hazards like Lava

Yoottos'Horg, I don't mean this in a disrespectful manner, but I think that's being a little hung up on semantics. You're correct, they're implying a value that is highly unlikely to manifest and you gave a excellent example of absurdity to point out that they should be a little more careful in the use of their language. "Anything of consequence" would've been much better to say, but then that's not what modern marketing hype teaches them to do sadly
I do agree however, that a persistent world where servers evolve and are different from the starting mold is worth getting excited about, and that the degree to which that manifests in the game-world should have serious depth of content behind it. Unfortunately there is a flaw IMHO behind their design parameters already, in that it seems like the game is going to be entirely PvE. I'm not a advocate of FFA PvP, but I do think that there should be parts of the virtual geography that are exposed to pvp based content and that any player created structures should fall into such zones or you wind up having all manner of cruft littering the landscape and serving no purpose. Putting high end resources in such areas is a practice that has many practical benefits as well, though that too should not be a exclusive source for such things. Having dynamic cause/consequence modeled through the AI is highly desirable mind you, but I think the bean counters at SOE (who are the real decision makers at SOE) will weigh how much coding time/money is worth spending on it and it'll probably fall a good ways short of what you and I'd like to see.
I did like how they did housing in EQ2, and cities created by the Devs do need enough reason to remain hubs that players care about and want to go to for reasons other than tourism while suffering an endless stream of gold seller spam.
Off topic a little, as I've only lightly payed attention to EQN, does SOE have any strategies for dealing with gold sellers? I absolutely despise the impact they have on MMOs, but the only strategy I've seen so far that successfully nips them in the nuts is to have a cash shop that sells gold to players directly from the publisher at competitive prices. I also dislike cash shops for their own, long list of failings

I'm not saying I WANT to drill to China but words have meaning, they convey thoughts, and establish expectations. I agree with you. I don't think anyone should expect to be able to demolish a mountain or create an ocean. Will the game follow a Red Faction type setup (with a little more environmental influence) or will it follow something alone the line of Diablo III where "traps" are created which you can interact with if you choose to?

Horns, man! SHOW US THE HORNS!

Imo GW2 Charr looks ten times better than EQN Lion King.
Can't wait to get my hands on this game!!!
EQ invented the MMO and now they are doing it again!

Does any know how Everquest and EQ 2 rank among all games on xfire ?
EQ #184
EQ2 #170
with performances like that...how do they earn the claim "the future of mmorpg" ?
I don't know...
I'm not saying the game is bad or anything, I haven't played it, and I'll give it a try. But just the "mage has teleport and warrior has leap" part of the debut presentation made me facepalm.Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Just some idle musings...
