I notice most people in this thread are creaming their pants over having a massive open world big enough for guild castles, player cities, and housing without instancing.
The only problem is when this games population dies down 4-6 weeks after launch (and it will), then you have all this empty space and there aren't enough people to make it useful. GW2 even lets you level down and explorer old zones and most of them are still empty.
People are wanting the biggest world they've ever seen, but I think it's just going to make a barren game world die even faster.

This is true for games that launch with a ton of servers.
But at the point, I'd rather large empty worlds than the "funneled" quest hub to quest hub progression. It's beyond boring and I'm done with it.
I want to shift the engine in neutral and just do my own thing.
They found a solution for that in EQ, they designate zones as hotzones every month, those zones offer more XP, so people congregate there.
Every month they change them out, so you still get to see a massive world, but now you have to worry less about finding a group.
The XP bonus isn't too big that other zones are useless, but if you feel like there's no one in your area, just head over to the hotzones of the month, and people will be there.
Copying ideas from other games is bad.
This isn't a universally accepted problem. It is your problem. Own it by changing the thread title to Masterfuzzfuzz's problem with...
It is not a problem for me. I prefer massive to tiny and don't need to see some idiot in a zone to make me feel something. This is just silly.

I understand what you're saying about that. Yes, emptiness can suck sometimes. Honestly I don't feel we need a HUGE world. You do if you want to have fast travel, but if there is no fast travel, then it will feel a lot bigger.
Also, if they could possibly remove maps, then that would go a long way to creating the illusion of a large world as well. Look at the journey from Freeport to Qeynos. It's not really THAT far. A few zones, and the zones weren't really massive. But due to the dangers on the way, as well as NOT having a map to simply follow, and no mounts, it took quite a while to get there. Because you had to be careful not to run into monsters or get lost.
