CCP has there hands full with Eve, Dust, and WoD.. but, that doesn't mean that someone isn't watching the games of note and thinking up something big.. Perhaps the next sandbox is already being worked on or being planned.. Time will tell.. Don't give up hope just yet..

They may or may not who knows companies don't always make the same types of games over and over.There's also no guarantee it would turn out what you want anyway,games don't always turn out.

They do sandbox best in my opinion.

But I haven't given up hope that someone will come along and do a great sandbox while we wait for them!

EVE is boring and when you look at it in practice and not conceptually it's also terrible. Only interesting to read about. One of the few MMO's that people "play" while alt-tabbed playing an actual game.

Dust is low quality with a microscopic playerbase, because it's bad. despite how I feel about EVE, I like shooters and was excited about Dust, but after playing it I realized that it barely scrapes an average rating in terms of shooters, so many better ones. They should be embarrassed.

WoD is going to be their cash shop vehicle. The monocle controversy was simply mis-timed, it was meant for WoD.

 

A company that survives because of a small loyal fanbase and lots of viral marketing while being fortunate that no one has made a competitor. It stands alone in the MMO industry as the only non-twitch space game, where else would it's players go?

So terrible that they have hundreds of thousands subs, have always been growing, developed and launched DUST, have World of Darkness in development, and is one of the very very few MMOs that actually carved their own MO design and success and not piggy back off WoW's success?

Really if CCP makes a fantasy sandbox then they will be hurting.  Already there  are several already fantasy sandbox MMOs and several more in development.  The market will be saturated with fantasy sandbox MMOs by the time they complete theirs.  CCP already has their flagship MMO,

At this point in time, CCP has my trust when it comes to anything Sandbox related. No other company can compare when it comes to that.
