Having gone through the recent beta process for Planetside 2 (which was VERY aggressively paced), I'd be amazed if EQNext releases later than the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2014.

XMas 2013 is most probably not even vaguely realistic.

    I'm thinking 2016'ish.

Listening to how they got to this point, it wasn't all that long ago they were just playing around testing and made decisions to the point they are at today and it seems from polls they have, there are a lot of big design decisions left open. I didn't get a sense that a lot of the game is done and mmo's take years. I mean this could be even 5 years out. Now I could be wrong and that they didn't give us an accurate representation of where they are at right now. But to me it seemed pretty far out.

I just read the person "do you think SOE would put out so much if they weren't somewhat close?". I can see that for sure, but again I just didn't get a sense of deep into development from yesterdays reveal, but then again it wasn't addressed directly. I hope it's next week! Some media outlet has to be asking and some type of answer should be popping up any time now.

Probably depends on how this EQ Landmarks thing works out.

It's one thing that has disappointed me.  Hearing all the things they aren't ready to talk about (Meaning they haven't made it yet or haven't even made up their minds yet) means they've got a good chunk of work to do yet.   Exactly how much, who knows, a lot of this is game mechanics that I guess in the end doesnj't really take that long to implement.

Will have the Landmarks game in a few months I guess which seems quite neat though, I think more people are going to like that than they think right now.   It sounds like a lot more than just an interface where you play advanced legos and that's it.

Pretty much the first line of this. I doubt they even have a realistic idea of a release date. If Landmark goes well, and that could be a big IF, but assuming it does, they need to give players time to make the content they are going on about. When they do that, they then need to implement in their world. That also takes a lot of time. You are talking months between launching Landmark and implementing the results they want to before launch.

Also, I assume if they had any idea when it would be ready, they would probably drop a hint. No way this thing betas before Landmark goes live, though it might happen concurrently.

Landmark will be interesting, but you can bet they will have a lot of garbage to sort through too. If it is anything like minecraft, the world will be filled with huge, monolithic stone penises.

Landmark is f2p and it is not a beta. It is a game in itself. SOE are pretty much giving us all the tools they use for the players to come up with content so the devs dont have to.

Stop the silly rumours that EqNext will be F2P please.

I think more to the point is, will it be P2W or P2P.

If there are no levels, There will be no way to pay to win.

This version of EQ isn't going to be a race to the top.

This version will be about the fun and exploration and player interaction on a grand scale. From everything I have put together based on the info given...it will be almost a living breathing online world and kind of the escape most would welcome after a hard day at work or over a relaxing winter day. My hope it release time will be Christmas and that they are alot further along than most here might think.

Your premise, no levels = no way to pay to win is flawed.

I do hope you're right about the rest of it though.

    I don't see anything past 2015 realistically.

Do you really think they would let players sit around and make things for in Landmark for 3 years?
