The point is actually simple. I felt the OP made it pretty clear. If you're thinking to yourself "man this game looks like crap - I won't touch that thing evarrrr"
That's fine. That's great! You have about a million more choices of games to choose from. Why sit here and voice enraged opinions about a game that is most likely more than a year away from release, when you (relative; not directed at you specifically) already have no desire to play it? Doesn't really make sense. Would you walk up to a group of strangers and start talking about some random food you don't like? I mean you could.. but why?
Because this is a MMORPG discussion forum, where people voice their opinions on things - good, bad or otherwise. EQN is kind of a "big thing" being discussed right now, and those opinions are going to run the gamut.
Why are you so eager to censor any negative opinions you don't agree with?
That being said - nothing is wrong with constructive criticism. SOE absolutely wants that according to the official debut vods. They even have programs such as the round table to provide your opinions. Also, as others have posted - this happens for every game, and in my opinion it can ruin potentially good games. Word of mouth is a form of advertisement that works very well in certain scenarios. Now more than ever - people are basing their opinions off of word of mouth instead of actually trying it for themselves. Such as life. Just trying to promote a positive message with hints of sarcasm.
Oh yes, the "you can only voice negative opinions if it's "constructive criticism" routine. I've seen this before.
Then, when someone does post something in a constructive way, they're promptly reminded "well the game isn't out and we don't know enough about it yet. It's too early to be criticizing it".
What it really boils down to is - like every other MMO on these forums - EQN has developed its "Guardian Fanbase" who are now going to try and stifle, hush or otherwise censor anyone with an opinion they don't like, which is basically anything negative.
If someone posted "I think the art style is awesome and it's really making me want to play it", none of the Guardian Fanbase would have a problem with it. It would be just as much a base opinion, and just as "unconstructive" in its delivery as any negative alternative... but it would be fine... because it's positive. And at the end of the day, that's all any of the Guardian Fanbase really cares about - making sure everyone posting shares their opinions of the game.
Shouldn't need to be said, but it ain't gonna happen.
People are going to post positive opinions. People are going to post negative opinions. As long as the moderators have no problem with how either is done, there's nothing you or anyone else can say about it.

To be honest - I have no problem with negative or positive opinions. I'm not part of the guardian fan base, and i'm not even sure if I will play this game. To address your point - The only thing i'm really asking people to do is provide information. If you absolutely hate the way this game looks from what you've seen - post that along with ways that you think could make the game better. That is constructive criticism. I have absolutely no desire to censor anything other than useless posts that do nothing for whatever community they are related to. Saying things like "This game sucks I'm quitting" (yes a real post in another EQN thread) is just absolutely ridiculous. There's nothing to quit as the game isn't out, and you don't know if it sucks because you haven't played it. That type of feedback HURTS communities. So.. that's really all I was getting at. It's sad to see quality games get trashed on by the public for pretty much no reason. Then again, perhaps the people that are enjoying the games aren't posting, because they're off having fun.
