Caught up on all the news...my thoughts:

I gotta say, i'm kinda into the game. I watched the main debut, class, and lore panels, and I thought they had some interesting ideas going on.

1. Destructible world- While this one isn't so clearly explained (they made points to say anything done will heal- and i imagine very fast to give everyone an even experience) it sounds nice in thought. Definitely one of the features that has my eye. Also they said 'once you have good enough gear to do so' which makes me think it'll be a progression thing. As you get stronger/better gear, you'll impact the world more, if only temporarily. Might be cool.

2. Fancy AI- Every game touts grand AI, but from watching the videos and the way they conversed about it, it seems they might have something worthy of the title. Whether or not this amounts to truly migrating mobs or simply a "Look, there's a such n such type of terrain over here that X mobs spawn in" (like er..minecraft. Creepers/cactus spawn on sand) remains to be seen.

3. No quest markers- While i feel they skirted the direct question of whether they'll have !'s or ?'s above NPC's heads, they seemed pretty set their wouldn't be any. Whether or not some kinda circles appear on your map(ala GW2 ) remains to be seen though. Could be marketing.

4.Combat- Some don't care for actiony combat, but for me, personally, GW2 has the best combat i've played in an mmo. I like the action! It seems they are going this route, but pushing it abit further with letting you pull your character skills(think utility skills for GW2) from any other class. Sure, there will be a meta "THIS IS BEST DO THIS OR YOU A NOOB" build, but when im out farting around i'll definetely be tinkering with different combinations.

5. Lore- I've not played EQ or EQ2(maybe for the best as they are retconning the lore i think) but the history they went over in the lore panel was rock solid in my opinion, and they seem to have a wealth of it built/being built. I enjoyed the stories they briefly went into. Reminded me of the Elder Scrolls lore in quality.

6. Content releases- I like their estimated 2-3 month release time for new content. For me, by the time an expac rolls around for most mmo's i've played, i'm long gone, so this is a plus for me. They didn't seem on-page with having our actions affect the overall story in a major way(the guy was like "Well, while we're over here doing our thing-which you dont have to do! You can be over there doing your thing!) just the idea of frequent content additions is a plus for me, no matter how scripted.

7. World design- I liked the brief bit that was shown, on an aesthetic scale. Again, reminds me of GW2 (I like the GW2 world). The tiered world, where you can go deeper and deeper was a big plus for me, depending on how its implemented. I'm reading on these forums it's a seamless world, but when they demo'd the elemental fight, it seemed to cut away to black loading screen as the next tier of earth below loaded. I dunno whether that was because of it being scripted or what.

8. Character designs-...meh. Will have to see more. The female human was alright, but the lion thing needs a facelift. Liked the lions armor design and stuff enough i guess, but its head is just a no-no for me. It's like its nothing but a ginormous snout! xD The concept art for the orcs and elves were pretty standard to me, no complaints.

Overall, i get a big guild wars 2 type of vibe from most of the game, but pushed further. This is a big deal for some people(definetely ALOT of people on this forum!) but for me I LIKED it! I love GW2 and definetely have played that MMO more than any other in my past. If it's a step up from that, I'll be around.

Going to keep an eye on how this one develops for sure!

Too many similarities with GW2 can be a deal breaker for me personally. Honestly, I wasn't expecting Everquest 3 but I expected at least some similarities with good old EQ. Too early to tell anyway, I just hope EQN won't follow GW2's path.
