Does it Quack and Walk like a Duck?
I have been exposed to EQN for the last two days and been looking reading anything I can find on it. The official site is up too.
But it is still not clear what the game is really about and EQ landmark is confusing he issue even more.
What gets me more, is the insatiable habit of presentations to be Cryptic.
Why not come out and say exactly what the game is all about?
Is EQN a Sandbox OR a Next generation Themepark? It is certainly not an easy question to answer when everyone is playing with words and their meanings so I think a more visual representation of what I, at least expect from a sandbox game is the possibilities and the gameplay in the following videos.

Will we be able to play in such a fashion in EQN? Does the game contain such gameplay possibilities?
Is that really so hard to come out and confirm, why have the player base guessing?

Maybe we should call EQN a "soft" sandbox.. I'm still unsure what exactly is going on with this game.. As you mention, I felt that the presentation of EQN was very cryptic and vague.. I question how much of this game is actually complete.. We didn't hear SQUAT about crafting and the economy.. Cites? What cities? How many races? As for classes, we saw virtually NOTHING.. I feel as if they just created this game LAST month and did an overnight marathon session for the demo.. Video was super limited.. Underwater available? Is there even going to be underwater combat and exploration?
Does anyone truly know ANYTHING?
Your question is hard to grasp.
It will have some parts you also do have in Arche Age. Some parts you will not have.
Overall as much as we know and can assume at the moment it will be more of a sandbox in comparsion to ArcheAge.
Basicly, because Arche Age do have a lot of linear stuff and themepark elements. Leveling, Instances, Quest Hubs. There is a reason why it is called a Sandpark from a lot.
But we really don't know enough about EQN to finally answer the question. But as it looks like, you can most probably do all sandbox stuff from Arche Age in EQN, too. Maybe not building boats and sailing. Because up to now they don't even have oceans at all. But on the other side they may deliver it later on. But.. it is tooo much speculation at this point. Not enough Info.. really.
Well, the creators of ArchAge were upfront from the begining on the game they were making and what it was about.
And then further demonstrated as they were building it.
EQN is not clear at all about what the game is all about. I mean they mention Virtual World, they mention Sandbox as far as Landmarks is concerned but not directly with EQN.
We say that EQN will be more Sandbox than ArchAge, based on what?
I mean will there be land for players to claim as their own? create their own Nations, Cities Castles to protect and call home? Or are we going to be reacting to the Emergent AI's whims engaged in a PVE adventure?
With ArchAge we knew it would be sandbox from the day it got announced we knew it because they expressed the intended gameplay from the get go, they mentioned Housing and Ship building in unison to FFA open ended PvP and Player Sieges and Political intreague which insues in the metagame stemming from these mechanics of the game. Allong side to PVE and Crafting and Resource Gathering and resource Production.
Much of which is reiterated in the E3 presentation there, they even are mentioning some player tactics and habits that they observed from the Korean servers. Which any Sandbox player would recognise as a result of a Sandbox game.
So, Is that so hard for SOE to come out and say about EQN?
All we heard about EQN is being wary to not upset the NPC known as the Goblin King. It does not sound as a Sandbox gameplay to me thus far...
