Something I just can not get out of my mind this morning. What if SoE and Disney teamed up to make a Star Wars MMO by giving SoE's EQ Next game a Star Wars reskin.
I know that Disney gave EA rights to make Star Wars games but keep the rights for other game uses. Could one of this rights they kept be for making MMO style games?

MMO style like SWTOR? Because EA has that right.
Sony has an IP that is this generations Star wars.. its called everquest, they need to focus on no fucking that up. What happens with star wars in not nor should it ever be their conceern.
They need to focus on getting those super cartoony graphics changed.

Something like the EQN concept would do very well along side swtor. They are two different genres almost, certainly different games.
However, I would wait and see what works wellsith EQN and the dev vision and saying to copy that. But in concept a star wars sand box, with dev creating tools, and even creating mini games would be great.
Star wars has a lot of fan fiction for fans to create. They could even create planets. Not surprisingly, this content creation would work better with something that a lot of lore and fan fiction. Ans swtor makes it easy for another mmo to shine by including mini games which they have not included until now like pazaak and swoop racing.
I would say a more adult themed to be differentiated from swtor with gambling, decapitaion, and blood and gore would helpthe overall genre and the IP.
Also it would help when one game is more pvp focus. Has large pvp, e-sport, crafting for sand box, guild me hanics etc, and the other can focus on story, and raids.
And possibly both mmo can share resources and lrojects to integrate them in their own mmos. For example, swoop racing in one mmo would be the same in another, and both share the same progress. Even though both sw mmos are in a different timeline.

I'm not really all that eager for games attached to IPs (which usually suffer because of it.) Very few IPs apart from Warhammer really hold much attraction for me.
If anything, I'd want a SRPG Star Wars game done in the style of Mass Effect. Unlike SW:TOR, where the content was stretched thin (and/or it was Bioware's B-Team), a SRPG Star Wars game would mean truly high-quality cutscenes, writing, and storyline.
But only Bioware's A-Team could really produce that, and I'd much rather see that team be free to produce something all their own, with greater freedom to make the game amazing and not be as limited by constraints.
Nothing about EQN is especially suited to Star Wars (the dig-beneath-terrain part is actually distinctly not what Star Wars is about.)
