I bought guild wars 2 a long time ago and maybe got to the high 20's. Does this game have enough of an end game and is it updated enough to make it worth playing.... ?
After a long hiatus I logged in and wandered aimlessly around porting from place to place trying to find something to do. After spawning the Troll in the cave in one of the starter areas amidst a group of lowbies and loling and the slaughter that commenced I logged out and went back to Mech Warrior Online.
Nope, IMO. But, I suggest you to check yourself (it will cost you nothing), maybe you'll make different opinion. Endgame doesn't exist in GW2, but you can use imagination and create your own end-game. As some head from Anet said, end-game starts from lvl1.
It's worth $50, yeah. The progression doesn't last forever though, so instead of extending off into the distance as a long-form progression game it just sort of ends (unless you're into the PVP, but it's too casual for my taste, even though it's some of the better MMORPG PVP.) But the payment model doesn't last forever either, so you basically get your money's worth (at whatever pace you want, comfortably) and can drop out of the game (and back in) without guilt.

mmo with most active updates to date. Really worth the time and money.
However, if by end game you mean boring gear threadmill grind, then no. THis game does not have that old method. Anet broke that cycle with GW2 for good. From now on is just evolving the new system to a much better one.
If you already purchased the game the leveling experience was pretty good so no reason not to get your money's worth. I enjoyed that part of the game. On the other hand if you have a hard time enjoying the leveling experience without knowing what type of end game awaits it may not be worth the trouble unless you like the WvWvW (which you can try before leveling up).
There seem to be a lot of updates and "events" and "content" being added actively but whenever I read these descriptions it always seems like nifty filler content that would work well to compliment actual end game content but doesn't really seem worthy of being the end game content itself. Add to that the homogenized class system without the holy trinity (maybe that's a plus for you) and dungeons are less than fun IMO.
I'm sure there are some that disagree and believe jumping puzzles, map completion and zerging pvp battles is adequate end game content but I don't.
