Personally, I'm not sure whether it will be White Mage or Scholar yet, since we don't have as solid info on Scholar (so I picked White Mage for the poll). I think Scholar might have different numbers here than at launch for that reason (same might apply to summoner to some extent).
Either between Monk or Dragoon... since for some reason Dark Knight is missing in action. Summoner possibly might be a close 3rd, granted its probably not going to be as appealing as it was in FF11.

Originally posted by Nanfoodle Is it the Summoner or the Scholar that gets the tank pet? I know Summoner thats dot/dps and Scholar is heals/dps. Just not much info out there.
Same for me, I want to go summoner but there is lack of info so I will have to go in the dark with my choice.

It's actually the Arcanist that first gets a tanking pet, and then the summoner gets an upgrade to that I guess (going off what we've heard). I don't know if the Scholar also gets a tanking pet, but it seems like the main role of their job-specific pet will be support (again, hard to say for sure).
Btw, Scholar is not really 'dps' - they are just healers (though all healers may contribute a small amount of dps in certain situations of course).
I want to try healing in this game since I normally go DPS. Right now I picked WMage, but may go scholar. Did someone say scholars get a pet??? Where is the info on the scholars?

Scholar has pets, the class it comes from Arcanist has dots and a tank pet. From what I have read they can have a heal pet as well. So a Tanking pet, DPS Chocobo and you healing. Well that could make soloing as a healer not to bad. I just want to know if Scholar and White mage will be on equal footing in a raid or team for heals. Would almost seem unfair if they did. I just dont see being second fiddle to another Job for your prime role as a good thing. So what makes them worth having around if the White Mage is the better healer?

Who said White Mage was the better healer? They are supposed to be balanced to be more-or-less equals.
The main difference between their healing styles is that the Scholar relies on shields and other damage reduction abilities mainly (all their heals have shields built into them as well) - they also have their pet which can passively heal and has active abilities that drop AoE buffs; white mage on the other hand is a more traditional healer with more potent normal heals and some HoTs. Each has more tricks and specialties in small ways beyond that, but that is the essential difference.
All we have for Scholar right now is unofficial, but there are lists of datamined tooltips for their abilities around the web.
I'm leaning towards starting out with arcanist and seeing how that goes. I enjoyed archer in the beta, so I was planning to go that route, but the summoner is just so appealing to me.
Have my work cut out for me right from the get go. Going arcanist but i want to unlock both summoner and scholar so i can play either role in groups. Voted summoner but definitely unlocking both asap
I have character concepts including certain races for certain classes though, so will be subbing the option that allows for multiple characters per server.

Personally I am not interested in any of the classes... I am patiently waiting for whatever new classes they throw out there in the future (hopefully Samurai~!) but I will be going for Dragoon until that day comes...
I said white mage, but I'm going to try to get them all eventually, In FFXI I got all the jobs, but ran out of cash to support going forward on them all, so I quit. Hopefully making money in reborn isn't going to be as time consuming as it was in FFXI.

How was the summoner on 11?

(Remember that Scholars have access to all Arcanist abilities and traits, as well as probably some low level Conjurer and Thaumaturge abilities.)
I'm still stuck between bard and summoner.

Paly first I think, then Bard then White Mage...

Thanks =-)
