Saw DF1 mentioned in the reveal of the game.
How could this game match up if it isn't first person? Also....why would I ever play a game that is developed for cell phones and tablets?
Lastly, what guilds were invited to play the alpha of this game? The answer to this question will reveal a great deal of information of how carebear or non-carebear the game will be.

What is the point of this post? This game is targeting a different audience than Darkfall / FPS MMO crowd. Cell phone/tablets gaming platform has grown a lot during last 18 months. It will compete with Darkfall in terms of sandbox element it will bring but no necessary the combat system.
It will appeal to a large untapped market who wants sandbox with MOBA/DOTA/UO feel but not an FPS. If you are looking for something like Darkfall then try Mortal Online or Age of Wushu.
Now Playing: DARKFALL Unholy Wars "Return to Open World, Full Loot PvP, Conquest in a Sandbox MMO with player driven economy! Just like classic MMOs!"
I played the game during the first large scale test. If the reason you won't play the game is because it can be played on multiple mediums (though I highly, highly recommend not playing it on anything smaller than a 7 inch tablet from a personal point of view) with no real emphasis on any of them then you're not really a gamer which is able to define what is and is not worth playing.
The guilds that got invited which were external ones were ones who applied first when spots went up, I have no clue who most of them were but during the test I was in there were people hunting others in the open pvp zone of the map (which was allot bigger than your own guild's safezone and all the other guild's combined, some people who were not aligned formed or were attributed new, special, in-game only, guilds for that particular event just FYI) even during the less populated periods of the day, apparently most people were late EU, mid day US. Now the game was not in any way shape or form in a final form but it played really well, it was intuitive when it came to crafting your own gear and while not first person it felt allot like a polished, more accessible UO pre-trammel with quite a few modern touches (you can understand why I cannot go into more details).
From the descriptions it looks like these guys respect and understand the term sandbox.
Unlike AV who has no idea what sandbox is and to make things worse pretend to know and using bait and switch tactics to get players playing their shallow garbage who ligitimate want the old school sandbox game !
Bring back old school sandbox so we can get rid of the wannabe bigmouths of DF !
On a cautious note..what is this all about GvG ...and MOBA talk etc...
Sandbox and old school means open world >.< there is no compromise to this that doent end up anti sandbox...there have to be freedom to build everywhere to do everything solo or in guilds to be a sandbox game.
I hope tey dont turn this into the big guild arena combat that is DF:UW..

I'm pretty sure there is an open world to explore. The guild v.s. guild stuff is for claiming territory and when you hold territory you essentially have a safe zone there for your guildies. Unless another guild comes by and challenges you for it. That seems like a reasonable approach as people can't be online 24/7 to defend their territory.
Hopefully someone who knows more can confirm or deny this.
Yes the world is open, the details aren't final in this area and it's far better for our main guy Stefan to give you a better reply to this but i'll do my best
Our design right now is that in one area there are several capturable territories if your clan owns one you can enter it freely and build stuff in peace and gather resources in peace, do mind that any high level resources will force you to go out of these safe zones.
There are several reasons for this, in Albion Online people may not be as spread out as in other games meaning that your enemy clan may live very close to you and thus a complete open world with no protection would be more of a pain then a enjoyable game in the long run (Who really enjoys being bind camped throughout primetime everyday?)
Also not every area may have capturable territories and not every capturable territory may have a safe zone, if you read up on our last http://albiononline.com/alpha-test-15-wrap-up/#more-745 you can see that we experimented with 2 things that are quite new for us, one being the Capturable Castle which does not have a safezone (You need to smash the gate to get in unless your clan owns the castle) as well as a Dungeon Boss (Which was located in a dungeon which was its own area with no form of restrictions, another clan could've showed up and ambushed them in the middle of their boss kill)
Atm we are also experimenting with how sieging will work, currently we are thinking of two different types of attack, one being a form of pillage where you can attack the other clans town to destroy stuff or to beat them to get some money out of them, or one to take over their town.
