No chat bubbles ever

As per the lengthy dev post today by the producer, they will not be adding chat bubbles to the game ever, because of memory issues. I guess he meant because of the ps3.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

chat bubbles are terrible, I always turn them off if I have the option to do so.

No chat bubbles, but you will see character's actually talking when you're chatting.

It's hard to allocate things to features that only Role Players and RPG gamers (or comic lovers) would enjoy.

While it's a massive improvement of "life-quality" for RP, if their reasons have to do with resources and memory, then that's that for now.  Good to see that they at least looked into the possibility and would like to revisit it in the future.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

but if u are reading the chat u wont see the lips :P

chat bubbles are nice for easy reading in the middle of the battle , easy to see who said what ,and where they are....

SE wont add bubbles because ps3 limitations or some "tech" problems, because is retarded to no have the option at least.

On the PS3 version, the text in the speech bubbles is too small, so please adjust this.

After Launch As this occurs during battles as well, making it too large would affect battles, so we will look into this as well as a setting where you can adjust the size after launch.

I would think he is keeping the chat bubbles for now.

They're only for NPCs, not players, which was what was being requested.

I wish they would just drop PS3 support. It's far, far too much of a bottleneck.

My hope is that once the PS4 version is out they can release things like this exclusively for PC/PS4 whilst leaving the PS3 version to what it can handle.
